Yes if the dipstick reads full when on a level surface after sitting a while, it is full. I just changed out my fluid today. Bought universal Trans/Hydro fluid at Tractor supply on sale $30 for 5 gallons. It takes 8 gallons as stated earlier. Also if you just got this thing, look for worn out...- Armond D

Ignition troubleshooting
If you are suggesting that the 12v TO the coil goes away while cranking, I would suggest you try to determine if your tractor uses a starter bypass circuit. This is intended to supply a full 12v to the coil while cranking then once started switches to a resisted voltage to the coil once started...- Armond D
