    1948 DC4 questions

Thanks for the info. My biggest problem being in such a remote part of the state is there aren't any machine shops anywhere close.

    1948 DC4 questions

Well, I got the valves all out and several I believe are rusted beyond repair. I pulled the water pump out and the engine is full of rust flakes. I also managed to get the oil pan off and from down below, it looks good. I have not pulled the pistons yet, but the measure 4" diameter. The...

    1948 DC4 questions

Thanks guys, I'll keep those guys in mind for sure. Got the valves pulled today, all but 2 are rusted and the seats are rusted too. Being in the middle of nowhere, there are not any machine shops around that anyone knows about. Would a sandblasting help? I have access to one.

    1948 DC4 questions

I have been searching but there doesn't seem to be any engine overhaul kits out there. I am most definitely in need of one. I recently purchased this tractor with hopes of doing a restoration. I was told that the engine was free, and it did turn over using the hand crank, but very hard...

    1948 Case DC4 hydraulics

I just bought a 48 case dc4 and I have been slowly looking it over as I have time. The engine is free and no signs of any problems, other than the water pump is seized and I was told no spark. My plan is to restore it as a project over the next few years in my spare time. Every other dc4 I...

    641 issue

Sound guy, thanks for your advice. It was indeed the wrong solenoid, even though the packaging said it was for 601. I hooked the old one back up and it works fine now with the new plunger button. New solenoid goes back to Napa in the morning. Thanks again for your help.

    641 issue

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I haven't had any problems until now. I recently used my tractor for some heavy work loads clearing top soil for a 40x60 barn that I built. No problems excavating with the fel, other than the occasional overfill on the bucket and the hydraulics wouldn't...

    dc4 question

Yes. Its just that in my search to find one, some dont have eagle claw, or live pto, or the hand clutch, or some extra part on the front where the crank is. just trying to find out what years have all of those things with the flat front. thanks.

    dc4 question

Thats good to know, thanks, but I dont have the tractor to find out. He got rid of it in 1994. And no one knows where it went.

    dc4 question

I have had no luck finding my dads tractor, so I am trying to piece together what year it might have been, but having some mixed results so I am hoping that someone here can help. It had the fixed crank on the front, which was spring loaded, but it was flat where it attached. It did not have...

    The hunt for a DC4

Thanks, but I realize this is a shot in the dark. I've pretty much relegated myself to just trying to find a dc4, but even that seems to be a stretch. Those that have them are not selling. I might even consider a project, as long as it turns over and mostly complete. I am more interested...
