    Monday Truck

ERF, a British company dating back to 1868 when Ernest Reginal Foden built his first steam road tractor. Never a main stream company, they built trucks powered by a range of engines from Rolls Royce, Cummins and other engine builders, my brother drove Rolls Royce powered ERF's in the 1980's and...

    Vibratory Tumbler ?

I have a bunch of bolts that are all rusty that I need to clean up. ive been looking at vibratory tumblers. And then maybe use it also for polishing rocks. The ones at Harbor freight look pretty cheaply made. Does anyone had any experience with these? And make any recommendations. I have been...

    Forklift Issue

I recently acquired an older forklift. It's a Yale, but I'm not sure of the model. Drive wheels are duals and are 7.50/15. It's powered by propane and has what I think is a small block Chevy V8 engine. When I bought it the starter was off of it, but a new starter came with it. The...

Farmall 300 - 350 vs JD and Others

Back in the day, what JD tractor (and others) did the Farmall 300-350 compete against? What strengths or weaknesses did the row crow 300 - 350 tractors bring to the farm that JD (and others) did or did not? Just curious. Thanks! Bill

    Cheap rear tires

I have a '48 8N that I use for general lite work i.e., grading, firewood hauling, etc. I need to put new 13.6-28 tires on the rear. New tires run roughly $350+ each, except for one. I stumbled across Walmart that sells this size ag tire for $86. I checked twice, and sure enough, it's $86. I...

Super 55 Tractor Split for Leaking Seals

My Super 55 got to the point where it is leaking gear lube so bad it has to be split. I've got the Oliver manual, the special socket for the PTO, and every single seal and gasket in the rear end ready to go. Since I've never had to get into it this deep, I was wondering how big a job I'm looking...

    Chrysler 225-powered tractors?

I've been wondering about this for a while. My daily driver (and occasional farm vehicle when my trucks are occupied) is a '68 Dodge Dart. It's a slant 6 car, runs like a top. I have had practically no issues in the past 5 years, and usually put about 8000 miles a year on it. Here's a pic, if...

Re: IH 504 Transmission Cover Removal

I don't have a 504, but it might have a stud or two to guide the cover on. The studs and cover rust in that area and are very tight. I carefully used a screw driver under the cover and got it to move. I eventually got it off without damaging the cover and chassis.

Clean those parts well on brake jobs

If possible when doing brake jobs on any tractor with dry disc brakes, clean all rust and deposits from the parts. Then thoroughly degrease everything. These steps can be a hassle but your efforts will be rewarded by the brakes working well. Also repair any oil leaks in the brake area. Rod
