WC, WD gearbox interchangeability
What I really need to find out is if the distance from the differential face to the engine is the same between the two tractors. I have a WC that was converted to a forklift by John's Mfg. 4020 needs front weight. Is aftermarket double good part?
I need about 800 Lbs up front of my 4020 to counteract the weight of my 3pt tedder. I was thinking of the factory starter pieces and the after market double weight bracket. Is this after market bracket cast and is it a good part? No history of breaking? Thanks.- Brad_bb

John Deere switched filters and it doesn't look good.
I don't think you can say "no bearing". If the filter can if half the size, you're not going to get the same amount of filter media in there. Yes you'd have to cut them open and measure the square inches of the media, but a can so small is definitely or at least very likey going to have less...- Brad_bb

So I have an 855 Compact utility tractor that I've had since the late 90's probably. Just used for mowing on the farm, still in very good shape. I've always used the JD M801002 oil filter. Well in the last 1- 2 years they no longer carry that filter and the superceeding number is M806416...- Brad_bb

I use a D1000 New Holland medium/big square baler ( a Dinosaur) and it's important to blow out the knotters especially. The lube and chaff and knot cut offs. It needs to be clean when you start to prevent issues. We just changed a billhook on the #2 string that has worn much more than others... -

No, no sandblasting. That requires way too much flow. I remember a lot of compressors had a bad rep back in the 90's with Aluminum pumps instead of cast iron. The line to day may be blurred a bit between consumer and farm use. The thing is I have a 7.5hp Champion two stage cast iron... -

Can I refill the oil here?
I'm on day 2 of the flu right now, but when I go out again I'll take some more pics. The transmission is under the fuel tank like a WC, but the rear end I think is stamped and not cast. Most WC's I've seen have cast rear ends. Maybe late ones had stamped? Or maybe they used a later rear end...- Brad_bb

There is a hand brake as you can see in the second picture along the right fender. I don't know it that lever is original or modified by John's. The machine has brake pedals to control left and right brake, but that was likely made by John's MFG.- Brad_bb

I'll check it out. thx. You can see that the gearshift is right in the way of your legs getting on and off. it's between your legs when operating. Very different from my Farmall BN John's forklift. But it's actual shifter is much farther forward, giving space between the seat and shifter.- Brad_bb
