    Hay Rake 896

Bought an antique or maybe vintage 896 rake. It's worn out, but she'll still rake what I need. I did notice that the left side wouldn't drive at all. Investigation shows no pawl, spring or rivet in the drive plate assembly. Ma Deere told me she wanted 85 bucks plus to give me that pawl. I told...

Milwaukee 1/2" DR Cordless Impact Tool

2767-20 is the one to get if you're gonna get. It's heavy, it will try to break your wrist every chance it gets. I haven't run into much it won't take care of though. It's an excellent cordless impact. However, if given the option, I'll string out the air hose and use my Ingersoll Rand TI2131...

    WD40 As starting fluid

My $0.05. TY26101 - John Deere Brake and Parts cleaner has been my fav for ether substitute and bottle feeding engines. Will do the same job as 80% premium ether and does it without the harshness of ether. I love it most for bottle feeding small engines that I need to figure out if it's a fuel...

    CNH Specialty Tools

Looks like I can get a Blue New Holland snappy tool box / grill/ smoker..... not sure why I'd want that....but alas, no seal installer..

    CNH Specialty Tools

Can I get the dimensions of the seal and how far it's supposed to be installed, maybe any steps or shaft diameters it would need to clear? I could make one if I knew more of what needs made. Maybe even a picture of where it goes.... Does a CaseIH book have a special tool section for the tool in...

The real JD 4520: Compression Issues

Thanks Used Red, for the kind words. Got lucky most likely... I'm pleased that his issues have been resolved. I suppose we'll never really know the cause on this one. Might just have to be satisfied that it works now...?

    Carb

Usually, they can be salvaged. How bad is yours? Torch tip cleaners work for that. We used to soak them in a gallon paint can labeled carburetor cleaner, but I haven't seen any of that for years. I'm sure some vendor on the web or even ebay would have used ones laying around for sale. Hmmm...

The real JD 4520: Compression Issues

Oh it was for sure. We were prepared to haul wheat from our bins to the elevator. We were not prepared for a blizzard to dump 20 inches with a 30mph wind. We knew about the storm, we knew about the wind. We expected, cause the forecast said, we were not getting the 20 inches, rather only trace...

The real JD 4520: Compression Issues

Our 4630 was reasonable. The 4640, we didn't use it much in the winter at all. The few times we needed it, just plugging it in was good enough. The 30 needed some sniff and the battery charger on any day less than 30* The day in January, the 30 is out at Grandpas, not plugged in, sitting on the...

The real JD 4520: Compression Issues

LOL!!! Yep! Add to that, they sell you a case of john deere premium 80% ether. Not that 25-40% wimpy stuff that ya get from everyone else. It takes real ether and lots of it to make a Deere do anything!

    Smoke but good compression

Pull the guts out of it too if you get the chance. Nice and hot, she'll clean up.

    1566 TA problems

LOL!! You forgot the battery charger on one side, the pickup and jumper cables on the other. Planning at least 4 hours time slot in your day before you ever go to work. Ya know, friendly pokin the bear between a JD guy and an IH guy should never die. It's a tradition!

    Question for the experts..

Fergies and Ford N's come with a condensation generator free from the factory. Those things are always full of water..... ahh the good ole days...

The real JD 4520: Compression Issues

Those 55 series were about the best a man could get back then. Most of the bugs were long worked out when those came. That would have the 7.6 in it IIRC. Does it rattle when ya shut it off, the last few turns like a tin can full of marbles?
