Things You Do Not Want To Find On Your Tractor!

Spray the head gaskets with copper coat, this stuff is awesome, if it leaks with that, the block will need decked.

    4650 water pump

Neighbor needs a water pump in his 4650. Hycapacity shows 2 water pumps. The only difference I see is one has a weep hole. It also tells me to make sure the gear numbers match between the old and new pumps. What's involved in putting a pump on. Any tips also appreciated. I'm a red mechanic very...

4490 ticking, from rear rear of engine under load

I would also say exhaust leak, have a friend that's an awesome case mechanic. He told me to double up exhaust gaskets. Before you take the manifold off use a marker and mark the ends to the middle section, then take it to get cut to make sure it's straight.

    806 starting

White smoke at initial startup can mean a cold cylinder but should go away after a bit of running. Also an injector tube could be leaking coolant. A good way to know if the valves are at fault, the warmer it gets outside the easier it should start. If you start it and let it run for just a few...

    806 starting

Good possibility that the valves are sunk in the head. 361 and 407 are know, when the valves are sunk they start hard. If you have the head done plane it and do a complete valve job with new hardware. Use the min. Spec when doing the head. It also could be pump and injectors.

Pitting in o-ring groove in JD 6-404 engine block - Options

I would not do anything but have it bored and put new counterbores in. You must use a machine shop that has experience with this. I had a case block done, he did the lower and uppers done. I would also have the block decked, he will need a new sleeve to recut the counter bores to get the right...

    7110 magnum trams problem

Cold weather can cause a lot of weird things. If it were me and it started all of the sudden, I would either get it in a warm shop or wait till it warms up. Or get it on a Dyno to warm the trans fluid up and then try.

    7110 magnum trams problem

High range is 13 thru 18, so I assume if low and medium do not work, it may be in the control valve. Did this happen all of the sudden?

What gears do you have, the range trans consists of low, med and high clutch packs.

Running Case 2290 Hydraulic Remote in Constant?

My dad ran a 2594 for years with no trouble, he just flattened a piece of heater hose and stuck it in the slot.

    5288 low range

Maybe a bit of confusion. I'm talking low range, which should be behind the master clutch, the speed trans works great.

Should say the speed trans works great.
