4650 water pump

Neighbor needs a water pump in his 4650. Hycapacity shows 2 water pumps. The only difference I see is one has a weep hole. It also tells me to make sure the gear numbers match between the old and new pumps. What's involved in putting a pump on. Any tips also appreciated. I'm a red mechanic very little experience with the green ones. Thanks for the help.

The early s/n takes the R71224 pump. Different shaft, bearings, and housing than the later pump. Unbolt the fan drive from the pulley and remove the fan and shroud together. You can then remove the pump. The water bypass pipe can be difficult if it is rusted tight but if loose it will have enough movement to get the water pump off. I always put a piece of cardboard against the radiator to protect it.

I'm not arguing but asking why would you think JD offers only one style remanufactured pump with no SN break shown if sn <-309262 requiring R71224 tractors were different?

I have always preferred to rebuild the pump I have....of course I sell labour not parts! What is the price of the kit Tx Jim? Its on the page after the pump and there is only one kit shown as well!
