    Try pull starting it. Eliminates all things electrical from the starter.

    oil for old tractor

    The best is oil with a high Zinc content. Synthetic oil would be fine but may smoke or burn oil due to the low ring tension in old tractors. The rings may have a harder time controlling or scraping the oil in the cylinders.

    Blah blah blah. Voltage is pressure. Voltage does not make heat. Current makes heat, amps. If your worried about voltage drop use a 14 awg THHN available at Lowes. Solid wire of the same gage is smaller then stranded. Stranded is made to be more flexible- period.

    Type of Oil For 1948 John Deere Model A

    The most important thing that we need in our old tractors is Zinc. I use Lucas 15W40 p/n 10075. You really can buy any 15w40 as the cheapest stuff on the shelf today is probably 20 times better they had back in the day.
