    Hercules jxd help.

If Zimmerman can't help, or you find other problems with your JXD, you may not know that when the JXD was announced Herc stated the then JX 6cyl series (JXA,JXA2,JXB,JXC,JXD) were all made to the same exterior and motor mount dimensions, so owners could upgrade to more power or downgrade for...

    WARDS FARM TRACTOR

You're probably asking too narrow a question--- Re-post your inquiries along the lines of '...looking for Wards CO-OP Design Chrysler-engined Fluid drive tractor built by Custom Tractor Co/Lowther/Lehr? etal..."... My CO-OP file is mislaid somewhere, but i believe the only differences in the...

1935 Huber HK head gasket? Rings?

That's a Wauk CHK you have---the 4C is works code for original accessories (ign, carb etc)... If it's still apart and you have no manual, the Wauk Eng Hist Soc (wehs.net) has them; they're an all volunteer group, have no parts, but have manuals NLA from Wauk dealers, will enjoy hearing about...

carbon fouling and losing power under load

Not familiar with your 674, so don't know if it has any model idiosyncrasies, so will say, in general: Black smoke (gasoline engine) means too rich---this matches both that choking makes it worse and the plugs being black and sooty (your new plugs should be the same now or soon)... But Steve has...

    1933 Sanford Cub fire truck

Just noticed your post--don't get into site much--- Sanford does seem to've used Cont'ls in the 30's... A couple catalogs I eyeballed didn't list a "Cub"; does your body ID tag have a model number?? Looks like Sanford used letters and some letter-number combinations for model #s... I assume...

    1927 IH points

Darald: If you're still there, if you're not already on oldihc.org post there for info---they also have a relatively small parts source list. My understanding is that Lyc parts are not always lying around, altho if searching for ign parts you need to post the maker/ID # of your distributor, as...

    OT - waterlogged Mustang

Shadetree: My experience with submerged cars etc was all in NMex, generally tourists camped in dry draws (nice soft sand) who didn't realize all that pretty lightning up in the hills would sometimes send 2-3-4 feet of water down... Or locals who bet they could cross a flooded draw once too often...

    oiled up spark plugs

Oh, my, how time flies...are all of us who had to rig jump sparks to keep our jalopies going all passing to our rewards, if any??? Seriously, holding the spark plug wire from the dist a quarter inch or so from the plug electrode makes the spark voltage?? higher to jump the gap, sending a...

    oiled up spark plugs

If you're fouling new plugs (assuming the plugs and gaps are correct) and need the unit running you should buy/rig some jump sparks...puts extra strain on the ign system but will often keep you firing temporarily... Replacing with the hottest plug in the range is also a possible temporary help...

    wards tractor

Patrick: If you're still there you need to contact the Cockshutt-CO-OP club... Briefly (??) the CO-OP Chry Cptn 6cyl engined design was built by several Farmers Co-Operatives and sold as CO-OPs and Farmers Union CO-OPs... Cockshutt wanted an entry into the US market with a familiar name, bought...
