1927 IH points

I tried to start this 1927 IH today, one ton, Lycombing (sp) engine. There is lots of spark at the distributor, but after filing the points several times the spark will only work a few times then quits. Is this only a points problem, other ignition problem or??? Where are points available? Thankyou...Darald

Darald: If you're still there, if you're not already on oldihc.org post there for info---they also have a relatively small parts source list. My understanding is that Lyc parts are not always lying around, altho if searching for ign parts you need to post the maker/ID # of your distributor, as it was most likely used on other makes/models of trucks and/or engines, or your engine in other trucks etc....
If no help from other Lyc owners on oldihc and such sites, for ign parts you might try obsolete ign parts dealers like Jason Smith (aerrebuild.com)...you should ID your Lyc if you haven't already---IF YOU HAVE THE CT DON"T TOUCH IT'S DISINTEGRATING OIL PUMP UNTIL YOU READ UP ABOUT IT---. Good luck.

Darald, Try a different coil, and condenser, a 12 volt if you have one handy just disconnect the 6 volt bat and use jumpers just to check the spark just use 12 volt on the distrubtor only
