    ID-6 compression relief lever

So after running it a bit more, I'm thinking the right side lever used to shift from gas to diesel is also supposed to be the hand throttle, but since it is stuck with the compression relief lever, it will only raise the rpms about 50 or so over idle right now. It would definitely help, since I...

    ID-6 compression relief lever

Just a quick update, the tractor is up and running now. I just have to shift both levers at the same time. I give the engine a quick throttle up on diesel and shift once I see white smoke. Runs great for sitting so long.

    ID-6 compression relief lever

I can see the rod on the manifold moving and hear the butterflies closing, so I'm probably good there. Sounds like I'm in good shape to try and fire it in a day or two. I have the diesel tank off for cleaning, soon as that's done, some new filters, and it hopefully will be running. Thanks...

    ID-6 compression relief lever

Hi all, I'm working on a '49 McCormick ID-6 (according to the s/n). The tractor has been restored probably 20 or more years ago and parked untouched in a pole barn the past 15 years. I am trying to figure out, is the compression relief lever supposed to operate independently of the gas control...

    Dodge 4.7 Engine Shopping

I recently put a 4.7 into a neighbor's '03 Ram pickup. He bought it from Powertrain Products. $2800, and they delivered it. Not the easiest swap, the engine sits so far back under the cowl, there is not really any room to pick it with the hoist, much less put it back in. I welded up a plate...

    Re: 41 DC project

Thanks again, Ken! We ended up taking the long way home through Lake Havasu City, the wife wanted to see the London Bridge. Got home that night and got another surprise, my daughter who lives in Hawaii was at the house, surprise visit. Great day, overall.

    Re: 41 DC project

Yes, parades and shows, and the occasional ride around the neighborhood. There are a few tractors in the neighborhood, even though there's never been any farming going on around here. One guy has a few green tractors, including a hi crop and an A, parked out front of his house a couple blocks...

    41 DC project

Hey everyone, been awhile since I updated this thread. I haven't gotten as far along as I'd planned, but it's still moving along slowly. I was very fortunate to finally get ahold of Ken in AZ, and he was gracious enough to donate a tricycle front end to the project. Ken has a nice little...

    Cleaned my paint spray gun.

Royse, that truck picture brings back memories. I have a good friend that had one we put a hot 440 in about 15 years ago. Red and all. Had probably 350+ at the wheels. Good fun, unless you had to pull the starter.

Dumb question about checking Auto trans fluid level

The easiest way to check the level after adding some oil is flip the dipstick over and read the back side. It will not pick up all the oil from the tube like the front side does. This works with most dipstick I encounter. Or, as mentioned, let it sit for a few minutes.

    Clean terminals?

I work with fire trucks every day, and with the average age close to 20 years, I can't afford to be wasting time. The best tool, hands down, for anyone who has to troubleshoot and fix low voltage electrical power is the Power Probe. They will tell you in seconds if you have a bad ground or hot...

    New to me DCs

Looking at the second picture, the big C, probably Coronet, now that I think about it. I spent my youngest years in the back of a '68 New Yorker 4dr.

    New to me DCs

That looks like a Chrysler New Yorker in the background of the first couple pictures.

    Weapon for Equipment

I bought a nice 350 Chevy off of a friend because he had no place to store it and I was moving. He had offered it for free, but I insisted on buying it, so he priced it at $250. I ended up selling the heads to buy a .44mag Ruger Super Redhawk, then traded the short block to a coworker's friend...

Big THANKS! to Ken in AZ

I recently figured out the email system on here, and was able to get ahold of YT'er Ken in AZ about the tricycle front end he had offered up last year for my Dad's old '41 Case DC, to replace the broken and wrong setup that was on it when I brought it home. My stepmom says Dad had tried getting...
