    Sounds like you are reading the wrong end of the circuit...ie reading the load not the generator output?

    If I understand your question you are trying to get the big spring off? The end with the plunger is threaded into the knuckle where the pin goes through. I would tighten the three bolts back up and then if the knuckle is hard to turn (it may be) I used a torch to get it red hot and it came off...

    No grinding noises. The trans oil is Super S GL1 90 wt. How hard is it to go through one. They don't look too complicated, but I guess that can be deceiving. Thanks again every body for the helpful replies.

    Sorry, got sleepy. It is the 90wt mineral oil or equivalent from the ford tractor dealer. It is a generic, but I will look it up when I get home. The fluid has been completely changed twice back to back do to water. The case had oil and water in it when I got the tractor. This is what made...

    IT seems odd to me to. Let me describe. I take my 2 year old boy for a ride. We get home, I pull it under the carport. I shift it into neutral and let the clutch out and it moves forward. If I hit the breaks it stops and will sit there in neutral just fine.

    OK thanks. Looks like I will just have to accept that facts and rebuild the trans. Anyone know some one in western nc that rebuilds them and what they cost? Or is it not too hard? I have lots of mechanical experience, but have never done a transmission before.

    Yup thats what I am afraid of. Is that connected to the clutch not disengaging properly? I am not certain that I understand that 100%. I know I know I am clutching at straws here.

    Hi All, I have a 52 8n and it makes a bad bearing noise. The noise is present whenever the clutch is not depressed. My first thought was main drive bearing, but am hoping that it is a throw out bearing. One wired thing. Sometimes when the trans is in neutral it will still move, if I break...
