Installing a bumper on my 8N

The bolt hole where I pointed with the black stick is where the bumper has to go. I held the bumper up to the axle and that is where it fit - same place on the other side. Going one hole over toward center, while you see a hole in the outer axle, the axle behind does not have a matching hole...

Installing a bumper on my 8N

Hello, I'm getting closer to finishing up my 8N project. While I'm waiting on something, I thought I figure out how to mount the bumper I was given when I bought the tractor. I see the bolt holes I would use - I need to get a longer bolt now - but wondering if I have to jack the front end up...

8N Fender Light Bracket - Which fender to use?

Thanks everyone. After all the talk my aftermarket bracket fit perfectly. While they came primed, I needed to get a spay can from parts to match the fenders. Sorry, don't know why the photos got turned. I have no space behind the dash on the right side. I'm satisfied how it turned out.

8N: two questions: springs and pedals

Hi. Its been a while since I did this as worked on other areas, but I thought I forgot the 3rd left side only spring. But it is there. Do I have the correct three springs and in the correct spots on the left side 8N brake? I think I followed the parts book, last picture, part 2299 only used...

8N Fender Light Bracket - Which fender to use?

Thank you for this. Makes good sense and reason to go left. I did look in the parts book before but now studying it a bit more, it is on the left. Seems like that transmission housing hole should have been on the left side too.

8N Fender Light Bracket - Which fender to use?

Hello, One poster to my earlier question on mounting the bracket, I think showed his bracket on the right (looking forward) fender. All other videos I've seen shown it on the left side. When on the left side, it routes by the brake rod, then behind the seat to the right side and through the...

8N fender brackets for mounting lights

Thanks for the picture. So you did not have to drill a new top hole - it fit to the hole where the fender and steel brace behind meet?

8N fender brackets for mounting lights

Thanks for your thoughts. While I probably could bend it, I'm not convinced I could match the top hole. I hate to drill another hole but I think that is the route I'm going to take. I have one idea I'm going to try about making a short spacer/extension just to see if that would work. I...

8N fender brackets for mounting lights

Hello, My question relates to the fender bracket. It seems the bottom of it fit the same two holes used for the fender brace behind but the top hole just doesn't make it. Fenders needed work but I thought I got the contour pretty good. Don't know if I should bend the top part of the bracket...

    Considering a 1950 JD M with plow

Hello, I haven't looked too closely at it, but since it is close, I could drive it home. $2800 with two bottom plow. Is offerring $1500-$1800 easonable? I've been restoring an 8N so that is all my experience with a larger farm tractor. Any specific items/issues with an M that I should check...

Oliver 70: Engine doesn't turn over & right wheel won't spin

The brake issue is solved. I'm sorry I did not take a picture. But I looked at the linkage on the working side and compared it to the other side. I did not notice it at first. I pushed the main rod backward wth both hands and my friend was able to spin the tire. The next question is what...

Oliver 70: Engine doesn't turn over & right wheel won't spin

Thank you. Yes, that is what I thought first, so we will check the brake pedal tomorrow. Is it possible that the pedal is okay and something in the brake drum area broke? To be clear, we should put the diesel fuel down the cylinders, right and let it soak? And then for the rear jacked up...

Oliver 70: Engine doesn't turn over & right wheel won't spin

Hello, my friend has a 1941 Oliver 70. Family tractor. He has two questions hoping you guys can get us going in the right direction. 1) Engine doesn't turn over manually. Son thinks last time engine ran was 10 years ago. He's put PB blaster down the cylinders. What should he do? 2) Rear...
