Installing a bumper on my 8N

Hello,
I'm getting closer to finishing up my 8N project. While I'm waiting on something, I thought I figure out how to mount the bumper I was given when I bought the tractor. I see the bolt holes I would use - I need to get a longer bolt now - but wondering if I have to jack the front end up. If so, what is the best way to do that, on the oil pan or two jacks left and right of center on the axles?

The bolt hole is in the picture pointed to by the black pencil in picture 2. Where I might jack it up, I have pointed to an area with a screwdriver - picture 3. Also wondering if I put a bolt in where I have pointed a green stick - picture 2, would that hold the axle temporarily in place enough to avoid jacking it up.

Oh, and while I'm looking at the bumper picture, do you guys mount it like the position I have on the floor, or do you flip it so the two bars above the hitch hole face the ground? I read of thoughts when searching for mounting help. thanks

I had one on my Massey 135, the TO 20 and TO 30. I used the same bolts that are used to widen the front axle, but It requires a 1" longer bolt.

Hi CFB, can put a 2x4 across and jack up on the oil pan, or one axle side at a time, or both axle sides at once.
Wonder if all you bolts can stay put, and just add the longer bolt for the bumper, so 3 bolts per side

I figured a half inch longer as that is how wide the bumper frame is, I'll see what I have in stock. thanks

The bolt hole where I pointed with the black stick is where the bumper has to go. I held the bumper up to the axle and that is where it fit - same place on the other side. Going one hole over toward center, while you see a hole in the outer axle, the axle behind does not have a matching hole so I could not put one there first and then use this existing hole as is. Maybe different year tractors are different. But looks like I will be jacking it up some way. I'm just working now on loosening that bolt. thanks

Understand the hole pattern. Now I see my mistake, your axle is one hole narrower than mine. Oops
