    What was this part for?

Since I got my 48 8N a few years ago I have been wondering what this part would be used for. It is only on the front left tire and not the right. I have not been able to think of any attachment that would need to be attached to the front end and turn with the front tires. Hopefully someone...

    I Hate Ethanol!

I use Sea Foam gas treatment in every engine I have. It is works great to clean dirty carbs and as a stabilizer. I usually have no less than 2-3 cans of it in my shop.

    plowing snow with the 8n

My 8N pulling with only chains and the 7' blade angled does real well. I found that with the blade angled as much as possible and a little speed to get the snow rolling out of the side, instead of just pulling a big pile until the tractor stops moving forward, works best. I have a FEL also but...

    OT. Heat pump?

Annual maintenance is definitely needed to keep the unit running as efficiently as possible. If the heat pump is not maintained and has a problem a good technician will not even begin to check the refrigerant levels until the unit is as clean as possible because restricted coils affect the...

    8N in frame overhaul

I would buy everyone I see for $500. For that price it could sit and wait for me to finish the other projects. Or be a parts donor.

    OT High Electric Bill

Could be many things but starting with the only change, t-stat, would be a good start. When installing the stat with tech support on the line did they ask him to verify the wiring in the heat pump and furnace or did they assume that certain colors wires went to certain terminals, like green...

    front mount snowblade question

I have a FEL on my 8N and have found that it pushes much more snow than it lifts which made me consider adapting a plow to the loader frame but have not because I already use my snow bucket as a plow most of the time. The nice thing is that with the loader I always have the option, when pushing...

    Pipe roll cage on 8N

Here is a pic of my '48 8N with a FEL that resembles a roll cage. The tube frame is also the reservoir for the hyudraulic oil. Is this what you are referring to? Definitely earns the "jungle jim" name, easiest way to get on the tractor is from the back.

Here comes the snow! Lets see your snow plowing pictures!

Thanks Dunk. That little 8N really got a workout last year. It was fun but I hope to not move that much snow this year.

Here comes the snow! Lets see your snow plowing pictures!

Haven't had enough snow yet to put my '48 8N to work this year but here is one from last year, my first winter with the 8N. I had more cold seat time than I wanted but still enjoyed the "work". The loader worked much quicker than my green lawn tractor with a snow blower.

    Leaf raking 8N style

I use a 4' pull behind Swisher lawn sweeper on about 4 acres. Bought it at Fleet Farm, about $280. On fairly flat ground it works great at picking up leaves and smaller branches, if set low enough it will pick up old grass clippings and mulched leaves. Easy way to keep the yard clean...
