    Oliver 1550 diesel

My Oliver starts and runs well. The over under also works fine. This is a fairly heavy tractor, kind of large in size and completely stock. The hydraulics are weak especially the remotes. I’ve never farmed with it, but I like Oliver’s and it matched my 550 so it’s perfect. I do a few tractor...

    What would you do update..

I have finally come to terms with the dealer on the canopy I purchased with my tractor almost 7 months ago. As I previously posted, the "universal" canopy supplied with my tractor didn't fit the tractor. Specifically, the brackets that attach the canopy to the rops. In one of my final calls to...

    What would you do

Wednesday update-- I last spoke to the salesman last Friday and we agreed that I would take the weekend to think about what I would like to do. I called him yesterday and it went to voice mail. No return call which is unusual for this guy. Waited for a call today and didn't get one so I called...

    What would you do

I bought a new tractor just over 6 months ago. Didn't want to afford a cabbed tractor so bought an open station. The deal included a canopy. Dealer didn't have one in stock so order it in. I knew it was an aftermarket but they looked ok. I paid cash for the tractor and took delivery. The top...

    Lower hp round baler

I don't really have a dollar figure just thinking about what might be possible. There won't likely be anything available close to me so shipping or travel expenses could get expensive. Just looking at machines could be a challenge. My big tractor is an Oliver 1550 diesel. Runs good but currently...

    Lower hp round baler

Is there a newer round baler that would work with a 45 or 50 horse tractor? This would be on flat ground. With the cost of hay help and me getting older handling round bales may be in my future. Don't really care about bale size but would want a real baler not a miniature.

    New Holland 472 Haybine

I found one today from Frys. Should be here in a few days. It's surprising how many are shown on the internet but when you call they say they don't actually have what they advertise. I called 7 places. Also suprising how few seem to be out there. Understand sickle machines are prob a thing of...

    New Holland 472 Haybine

Thanks for the suggestion. Nyssa didn't have one not did Farmland which are the only somewhat local salvage yards that I know of. I have 3 or 4 other places to check in the morning. I do have a machinist friend who will work on the shaft but it's a tough one due to its shape and of course it's...

    New Holland 472 Haybine

Where can I buy a used wobble box for my 472? I have been looking online and found a few places advertising them but when I call they don't have one. I need the main shaft and all the bearings and seals etc. My case is good. I can buy the parts from NH but it will be about $1500. Any ideas...

    Another rough day

Thanks Paul. I also have a hay Bob and used it. You are right.will work as a tedder but not great. I actually like the way it rakes. Tonight I Pulled the covers on the Galfre tedder. No broken gears. One of the mounts had come loose allowing a gear to slide out of position. All back together and...

    Another rough day

In the hay fields. Soaked with rain yesterday with no chance of rain predicted by the weather folks, today was better weather wide so began to ted. Made it through the first 5 acres before the machine started grinding. I'm guessing it broke another gear. It's a galfre and used a 15 tooth...

    My hay is too dry

SW Washington state. Hay quality is pretty good but there is not much of it. All of my fields are about 35% less than last year which also wasn't a banner year. Cut another 20 acres today with no rain in the 7 day forecast. Well, except for tonight! Hopefully no too much rain. Wobble box issues...
