Where to find Craftsman ratchet repair kits

Sadly, SK and Craftsman are no longer the quality tools that they used to be. My favorite 3/8 ratchet is the old SK round head. Low tooth count but very little back drag, and very smooth. I have two and will buy more if I see them at a good price

    USPS Rant Update

It isn't just USPS. I just finished reading a similar horror story on another forum regarding FedEx. Truthfully, I've had better luck with USPS than FedEx.

    Pocket knives are tools

I carry a Victorinox Tinker on a daily basis. My dad left me a Ka-bar and a Schrade, both 3-blade folding knives. Those never leave my nightstand. My father-in-law left a huge Victorinox with every available option and it's too big to carry or be useful. Makes a good paperweight.

    Ford Hundred series fender thickness

The left fender on my Ford 800 series has some rust holes and I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of what gauge steel was used on these things. I'm thinking of welding in some patch panels and realize that this thing will never be a show tractor. My basic question is, what gauge steel...

Gotta start changing my oil again

No secret about the rising cost of oil and filter. My main reasons for doing my own oil and filter changes are that I know who did it and I know that I used a new crush washer on the drain plug and didn't over tighten anything. Last time I had mine done at a quick lube type place, I needed a...

    Torque wrench advice sought

Ultradog's pic of the Craftsman is a very good choice for the job. These can be found in in/lb or ft/lb. Last time I used mine I put a little strip of blue painter's tape at the torque value I wanted as I was using it at an odd angle. They're inexpensive and consistently accurate. I wish I...

    641 Gas doesn't flow

What comes out if you remove the drain plug at the bottom of the float bowl? Is the float or float needle sticking?

    Whats that sound....?

I'm not sure what your local tire service place charges for field service calls, but mine was a whole lot cheaper for me to remove the rim and tire and bring it in on a utility trailer. My tires aren't loaded so that saved me a great deal of hassle.

temp gauge for a Ford 640

I have fractional and metric in my box. They're not often needed, but in certain situations (frequently hydraulics) nothing else works near as well.
