    Ford 640 steering problem w/pics

Well, I got the second fender off and was trying to get the steering wheel off the column to remove the rest of the sheet metal. I left the nut on a few threads and tried to pry it off like suggested earlier. It wouldn't budge. Later on I moved the tractor and the steering malfunctioned. It...

Ford 640 Sheet metal off - what next? (w/pics)

Is there some trick to getting the steering wheel off? I took off the big nut on the end but it won't budge. Is it supposed to just slip off of the end? Thanks!

Ford 640 Sheet metal off - what next? (w/pics)

I got most of the sheet metal off my 1955 Ford 640. The bolts are stuck on one of the fenders. I'm letting the PB Blaster soak in a while before I try to get it off again. How do you get the sheet metal off around the steering column? What would you do next as far as preventive maintenance...

Powder Coating Ford 640 sheet metal

Any comments on powder coating the sheet metal on a 1955 Ford 640? I have never tried painting a tractor so I thought about paying someone to powder coat it who is in the business of doing so. I guess you would have to blast it with media then coat it. Is this advisable? What kind of cost is...

    1955 640

Thanks for the info. I'll be in MS this weekend visiting family around Madison. I saw an add for a Ford 2000 with shredder that I want to check out while I'm there.

    1955 640

Here's my 1955 I posted a few days ago. Anyone know why mine has a glass jar at the air intake and Idykeman doesn't? I was wondering if this was the norm. Is there a benefit?

Hydraulic Pump 1955 Ford 640 question

Thank you all for the suggestions! A little more information: It only makes noise when you push the lift down, at about the halfway point, it starts making a knocking noise right at the hydraulic pump. When you lift the 3 pt up it stops making any noise. Another thing, when you cut off the...

Hydraulic Pump 1955 Ford 640 question

If the hydraulic pump (piston type) is bad (making loud noise), what is the best way for a novice to go about repairing it? Should I buy a kit and try the rebuild with very little experience or should I order a complete hydraulic pump and replace it. I've got the FO-20 repair manual for...

    640 pictures

Yes, it is a 1955 according to the serial number. I'm very excited about this deal. It will make a great restoration tractor for me. I've had some real beat up tractors in the past and paid twice as much. I've got a lot to learn about 'em since I didn't grow up with them but they sure are fun.

Ford 641 from auction used for site clearing

Yes, this place is loaded with wild hog. This was hog #9 killed in the trap this year. We put 6 in the freezer and gave the rest away. I've got hundreds of game cam pics at night where entire packs of them come to the feed.

Ford 641 from auction used for site clearing

We live in the Boerne area but this is in the hills in north Medina County not too far from Quihi. It is one of the last hills before you drop off into the plains.

Yep! She's a real sweetheart. She didn't even complain when I brought that second tractor home.

Ford 641 from auction used for site clearing

Hello, thought I would share another tractor picture of my 641 that I got at auction last year. This very rough looking tractor has been through hell in the Tx hill country. I've been using it to clear a very remote cabin site and road. 2nd gear is shot and the rubber is dry rotted. It's a...

I apologize for the picture not loading. Can you see it now? Thank you for the reply but I'm not quite sure I know what you mean. Not sure what an "SA" cycle is. Sorry.
