    Things we've learned over time

I am the maintenance man and a bus driver at the local school. In the most general terms. Learn how to problem solve and think on the fly. Be self reliant. See how it was put together and why it is now not working. (whatever IT is) Learn how to be calm and fix the problem.

    PTO bearings 350utility

Looking for a source for bearings. Specifically the two larger bearings in the PTO housing. Bearings on the sun gear. The old bearings were international harvester bearings with the numbers GIC-142 and ST-563. Someone who shall remain nameless ran the PTO to long without oil. No lubrication...

    Converting I 300 U to power steering

I have added power steering to a 300u and a 350u with a loader. Both are patterned off of Jackson's idea but built and designed by me. 300u is powered by Chevy power steering pump belt driven off engine. 350u was done with hydraulics from loader. PTO pump and a priority valve. If I did...

300 utility run away throttle update update

Thanks for info. Don't have a Motion Industries anywhere close. Used to have a Kaman Bearing in town. However, we do have a NAPA, and a couple of good independent stores. And one of the best old fashioned parts guys you could hope for.

300 utility run away throttle update update

Well. Short version. No matter how busy you are, always take your own tractor apart. My dad and son helped me out and pulled the head. In the process things got bent. Throttle lever, governor rods etc. Three hours straightening linkages and presto it works great! Now I need to find a source...

300 utility run away throttle update

I had the typical ah hah moment after my last post. OOf course its the throttle pin in the carb plate. Only. That wasn't it. Tractor will not remain at idle. Governor hooked up or not, it will slowly increase speed. As idle speeds up, the accelerating quickens. Only way to slow it back down...

    300 utility run away throttle

So. After replacing head gasket and having my head surfaced, tractor started right up and the throttle went full open. I shut her down and started troubleshooting. The governor will let it sit at idle for awhile but then starts to let her rev up. If I open throttle she won"t idle back down. I...

    adding rear remotes to 300u

Hay season is fast approaching and my haying partner just bought a disc mower. That's the good news. Bad news is none of our tractors have rear remote hydraulics to run the pick up cylinder. My 300 has a block and then the valve for three point towards the rear of reservoir. Can I pick up...

350u pto shaft not supposed to be broke

350 utility with loader. Driven by PTO pump. This morning loader won"t work. WTH? investigate and discover that shaft is broke just outside the bands and inside cover. Now, what other models used same rearmost shaft? Trying to expand my available parts tractor circle.

    Errr!!! Mis placed my Leatherman

How have you been able to go since September without it?! Do not buy a cheap knockoff. Not worth the frustration. Buy another leatherman, and if you find the first, well then you have your two.

    Funniest No Trespassing Signs?

Beware of Dangerous Bull. You would be amazed how many people decide that they really don't need to come in that field. For WHATEVER reason.

    ih 300 farmall

I'd give a bit more than scrap as she sets. I have a 300u and a pair of 350u's. Tough old girls, that steer horribly without power steering. It doesn't appear to have a TA. If engine is free and not destroyed can USUALLY be brought back to running condition. Maybe as high as a grand if...

Another New Holland 273 not tying, a little more spec...

My question is this. Why are we even talking about a question from 2009?
