    I am goan to start my engine overhaul this weekend, this is my first overhaul I have the Dealer Shop Manual. And The comprehinsive overhaul kit, are there any tips or certain steps I should not forget. What I don't understand is the Valve inserts.

    Thermostat

    If I had to guess I would say 160 and 180 are the opening temps this site sells the 160 one. Im not sure I would want one that begins to open at 180 it might not fully open at the right time.

    Found it at steiner all three parts meter cable and tach are $277 ebay curently has an original with all three parts plus the gen going for $150 right now. I would rather have the new one.

    TO30 Engine Overhaul Kit on a TO20

    I have the comprehensive overhaul kit. The piston rods and crankshaft will be original. The tisco guy told me that the 30 and 20 use the same piston rods. What I was worried about was the long term effect on the crankshaft. My bearring sizes are piston rods .020 and mains .010

    If you do snap a stud you can buy replacement ones at a massey dealer, I find that WD40 and a torch help alot also for breaking loose old bolts.

    '49 TO-20,6 Volt battery....where to get one...?

    TSC has the best deal in my opinion you get a 625CCA for 60 bucks, Nappa on the other hand carries a 650CCA for about 80-90 bucks. I always look at the CCA first then the price.
