I am pretty sure of one thing, there were several people trying to keep their money in circulation. Richard

a few years ago I had to have the generator repaired on my to-35. Tech said i had the belt too tight and had almost worn the rear bearing into the generator housing.
Repair cost me about $100 which I thought was over the top.

He told me to take good care of that generator (with rear gear drive) and not to keep the fan belt too tight as these generators were getting harder to find.

Do not know if thats true or not, but old gererator works good, tach works and tractor starts good.

I would like to keep the tractor as orginal as possible, but like you guys said, at $281 that is over the top.

guess i would have looked at installing an alternator and some type electonic tack that ran off the distributor,

I wish I could have my generator repaired for $100.00. Late this past year I took my generator to the only repair place I trust in our town, told them what I wanted done, he said that will be $ 175.00. Now I must say it was a 6v and now it is a 12v so I am happy as there was another place in Detroit someone tried to get me to use after emailing back and forth a few times I am glad I used the one in town. The one in Detroit wanted between $220.00 and $260.00 to do the same thing, plus shipping both ways. Richard

Richard, if you in the Detroit area I would like to talk to you as I am trying to set up a Ferguson Expo in that area in 2010.
