What's That Noise? Farmall Super A

As stated in another reply, the milky gear oil needs changing. The noise sounds like 2 of the speed gears ( 1 through 4 ) are out of alignment and trying to start the meshing process. A bearing is either starting to fail, a gear (s) with chipped teeth, or a shifting fork has moved on a gear...

    potato digger

IH did make ground driven and a pto version. My son has this IH model 17 which is pto driven. He pulls it with his Super A. It does a good job.

    JD 4 Bottom Plow ID

Does anyone know what model this plow is ? I do feel certain that it's a John Deere brand as the story goes that it was purchased new with a then new JD 620 tractor. There are no tags or decals left to identify it by. From looking at pictures, I think it is a JD model 810. If so, would it...

D-239….oil in coolant and missing coolant

With 4k hours on the clock, look closely at the water pump if it is still has the original pump. It can ooze from the impeller shaft and be hard to see with the large fan belt pulley covering the area up. A leak from here wouldn't explain an oily foam though seen in the top of the radiator.

    Farmall super a lack power

I looked at the video and have a few thoughts FWIW. I have a fast hitch mounted Woods model RM59 finishing mower that we use on anything from a 100 to a 140. A good rule of thumb is it will cut anything that you would have no problems mowing with a traditional lawnmower. Anything tall and thick...

    New Farmall 130

That will be a good tractor to resurrect. I don't know why, but Grayson's 130 has more power hands down than the rest of the 1 row fleet here, and I know for a fact that grandaddy's 100 was completely overhauled with minimal use before going 2 row in the tobacco. Yall stay safe with the heatwave...

A nice pic of a group of my tractors

Nice looking crew of workhorses. We also have a 5230 that dad bought new in '95. It's been a good tractor. Currently clocking in with 9600 hrs with nothing more than fluid and filter changes, along with 1 serpentine fan belt.

    Super A final drive bolt

Working on a SAV replacing bearings and seals in the rear end. Someone obviously has been here before me unfortunately and did a little engineering. The original bolt hole where my finger is pointing at to hold the final drive on has a twisted off bolt really deep into the hole. It appears a...

    Farmall super a

I'm going to assume that you have a battery ignition distributor system on your Super A like pictured, and not a magneto, although I don't see why one couldn't be installed if so desired in place of a regular distributor. A battery distributor will never have an audible click. The cap terminal...

Cultivator Assembly for 1951 Farmall cub

I have ordered several manuals from Peaceful Creek which are good reprints of the original manuals. Another option is Binderbooks. I have never checked, but the hosts of this site may would have some for your application also.

IH 955 solid row crop planter markers

On our 955 planter, after it sits up a little bit, the marker cylinder packing gets dry and will not let the markers lower. The only solution has been to have a helper pull down on them the first time or 2 of use to get limbered back up. Afterwards they have been doing fine. Worth a try.

    Farmall oil filter canister bolt

On all of the Super A's that we've serviced over the years or own, none of them have an "exit hole" if you will on the side of the bolt shank anywhere. I don't think this was a manufacturing mistake. All of the C-123 engines do have this hole to make a complete passageway from the bottom. It...
