Does anyone know what model this plow is ? I do feel certain that it's a John Deere brand as the story goes that it was purchased new with a then new JD 620 tractor. There are no tags or decals left to identify it by. From looking at pictures, I think it is a JD model 810. If so, would it fuction ok behind a JD 3020 ?

Probably a bit big for a 3020 depending on the dirt you are pulling it in. The 620 had all the weight in the rear with the 2banger engine in it. that was an advantage for pulling though you did nee to keep the front end down for control though.

Should be perfect for a 3020. Dad had a 620 and pulled same size semi-mount. Neighbor had a 3010 with a newer version of the one in your photos. Cousin had a 3020 and same size Massey Ferguson semi-mount, etc., etc. If you want to go to plow days and keep up with the racers, then it should be simple enough to drop one bottom.

If you're looking for parts- and you certainly need them- parts for the plow bottoms are in a separate catalog here. Part numbers should also be stamped on the back of each part if they are JD parts (might be aftermarket- they don't seem to fit very well). Looks like you would need moldboards, shins, and shares to start. Can't see the landsides.

From the wording of your post, I guess you haven't bought it yet. Suggest you price the parts I mentioned and buy the plow accordingly. Plow parts aren't cheap, but once renewed, it should last several years for you.

Its an 810 because of the shot beam in front where the front courter bolts on. The 812 thur 814 has a longer beam. The 810 needed a shorter beam was needed because of the new three point hitch on the new 620-720 which the plow was built for. john

In my dirt a 4-16 was a big load for a 90hp tractor, and I was running a 4-18 on a 145 hp tractor, some falls that was quite a load and had to downshift.

Other areas of the country I hear such a plow and a smaller tractor work fine.

I got a 3-16 F45 plow for my 65 hp tractor, that is a nice match here for my quick little plow jobs.

Dad would pull a 3-16 trip plow with the old 45hp gas tractor, but at times he was going mighty shallow to keep moving….
