    What I need is the rod that screws into the bottom of the solid rod that has the spring around it. That rod is tapered on one end and the other end is threaded inside to accept a rod that hooks in right behind the alternator. I can't seem to upload the picture.

    What should I do with this tractor?

    Where are you located? I'll buy it for more than scrap and restore it. I have two 8N's in the shop right now. There are too many usable parts on it to scrap out. Even though it has sat outside for a while, it still can be salvaged.
