    Remembering

Ham and eggs or turkey loaf were my favorites. No need to warm them up since they tasted about the same cold or hot. Ham slices were good too, but were better if warmed up some. Beef and rocks wasn't popular. Saw guy dump his beef and rocks on the ground for some local dog that wondered up one...

    Today's Massey's

Have the 2606H 4wd (65 hp engine/55 hp PTO) and I can't say anything negative about it. Have had it for a couple of years now. It does the jobs it was purchased for and hasn't presented any problems.

    Texas houses

cjunrau, You are correct that almost all housing where I am is built on slab foundations with no crawl space. Southeast Texas (Houston area) has a lot of expansive clay soils, and as I understand it a properly post-tensioned solid slab allows the slab to more or less float on these soils and...

    Texas houses

Residential houses in Texas are built for the typical weather conditions for that area. I live south of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico where we usually see one or two light freezes a year that barely last beyond the mid morning hours, but where you are guaranteed to have long hot, humid summers...

    Historical Deere Prices

Good point. I didn't bother to mention it, but he wrote another check two weeks later for $621.26. I'm thinking that was for the cultivators, bedder and planting attachments for that tractor that I still have.

    Historical Deere Prices

Not an A or a D, but my grandpa bought a JD B in Dec 1946. Never found the bill of sale, but his cancelled checks show he wrote one on Dec 2, 1946 to the local JD dealer for $1000.00, which I assume is for the tractor.

saw attachment for John Deere B

Hello, I just saw this photo on another thread. What caught my attention was the saw mounted on the front of the tractor. I few years back I had pulled a similar looking device out of the weeds at my grandparent's farm ( the blade was hanging on a nail in a barn), and I've always wondered how it...

Skunk in Barn -- how to remove

I've chased them out with a shower from a water hose. They didn't seem to get too excited by it and just waddled back outside.

    Rain.

Here on the Texas Gulf Coast we had nine inches week before last, six inches last week, and only one inch this week. It also rained the week prior to the nine inches, but I didn't keep track of the total. I hope it's finished for awhile so we can dry out some.

    240 moving round bales?

You can - just barely - if you have enough weight plates on the front end to hold it down. You won't be going very far or very fast, though.

Question Concerning New Pistons Installed in '46 JD B

Yes, that is correct. Haven't put the head on yet. Wanted to run my question by the group before doing that.
