What we always called the bull gear in the rear end would have to be the oil slinger towards that bearing. Thanks for replying Bern. I say thanks for your wealth of knowledge and for sharing your knowledge with us mentally challenged want to be mechanics. Thank You -

I had posted about draining to much oil out of PTO gearbox on a 9600 on 12-28-21 and Bern and Shaun responded. The bearing on pto top shaft that should seal oil from coming into pto gearbox is just a plain old open cage bearing. When the drive gear set is turned so that bearing is up and you... -

Thanks. I will try the refill thing when I get to that point. I assume that bearing is replaced from the rear through the top link plate if that is the problem. -

Thanks for the replies. Just wanted to make sure I could take care of drive hub if needed with the front split, then reassemble there and then split at the rear and take care of shaft at that split. Sounds like I should be able to do this. Thanks again. -

Sounds like dirt in the carb bowl. Take top off and gently wipe then blow bowl out. I would do this before getting to carried away.- cydectin

To answer some of the questions, the head gasket came from Ford/New Holland. I do not know the brand of it. The rear main seal is a Felpro I guess neoprene two-piece with wedges and drive pins assembled with Permatex red smeared on all pieces and not ran for about 36 hours after assembly. As... -

Put the new style head gasket from Ford on last summer with a new thermostat. Thermostat was checked in a pot of water and was and is functioning properly. New head gasket has ports closed off so coolant is routed from front of block to the back, then into head and back to thermostat. Problem...
