Update 9660 Ford to much oil in pto box

Tore into rear upper pto output shaft. I think the bearing that was installed by someone else was wrong as there was no seal to be found. My question is now that I have the correct bearing which is sealed on one side and open on the other, which side would you put to the PTO gearbox side? My...

Revisiting too much oil in 9600 pto box

What we always called the bull gear in the rear end would have to be the oil slinger towards that bearing. Thanks for replying Bern. I say thanks for your wealth of knowledge and for sharing your knowledge with us mentally challenged want to be mechanics. Thank You

Revisiting too much oil in 9600 pto box

I had posted about draining to much oil out of PTO gearbox on a 9600 on 12-28-21 and Bern and Shaun responded. The bearing on pto top shaft that should seal oil from coming into pto gearbox is just a plain old open cage bearing. When the drive gear set is turned so that bearing is up and you...

9600 ford to much oil in pto gearbox

Thanks. I will try the refill thing when I get to that point. I assume that bearing is replaced from the rear through the top link plate if that is the problem.

9600 ford to much oil in pto gearbox

Can someone explain to me how the rear differential and pto gearbox are separated? Looking at the breakdowns of upper output shaft and lower driven output shaft, I cannot see what keeps differential oil from getting into pto gearbox. When I drained differential and transmission oil from two...

9600 Ford pto input shaft and drive hub ?

Thanks for the replies. Just wanted to make sure I could take care of drive hub if needed with the front split, then reassemble there and then split at the rear and take care of shaft at that split. Sounds like I should be able to do this. Thanks again.

9600 Ford pto input shaft and drive hub ?

Short story made long, I will be tearing into this tractor as the pto went out and high side dual power is showing lower pressure than low side. The question I have is on the drive hub I know would go in if need be at the front split but can I reattach front split and then does the input shaft...

Sounds like dirt in the carb bowl. Take top off and gently wipe then blow bowl out. I would do this before getting to carried away.

860 Ford question and info to share

To answer some of the questions, the head gasket came from Ford/New Holland. I do not know the brand of it. The rear main seal is a Felpro I guess neoprene two-piece with wedges and drive pins assembled with Permatex red smeared on all pieces and not ran for about 36 hours after assembly. As...

860 Ford question and info to share

Put the new style head gasket from Ford on last summer with a new thermostat. Thermostat was checked in a pot of water and was and is functioning properly. New head gasket has ports closed off so coolant is routed from front of block to the back, then into head and back to thermostat. Problem...
