I Need A Pick Me Up After Making A Big Mistake

Had all of 16000 miles, and I had made sure it was maintained. Parked in a garage and washed anytime it go a speck of dirt on it (they once washed OUR minivan because it was getting their driveway dirty). So I was very familiar with it and knew the service history. I think my wife had put...

Fawteen the Toolman is at it again!

Gotta confess I junked my old one, my 5 year old one hasn't been run since we got the 'bota 3 years ago. Unless it's feather lite snow the 'bota does a better job, quicker. Probably will sell it next fall.

I Need A Pick Me Up After Making A Big Mistake

For my self, I only buy new vehicles, buy at model close out, base models (less crap to go wrong) and do my maintenance. 2014 Equinox, went 163000 before needing cam work, sold to a young man who does that work for a living at a dealer. 3 years ago and it's still going, he brags it has had no...

    I made it to retirement

I have been retired for a year and a half, after 38 years in automotive engineering. It took me a year to shift my body clock off 5am get ups. Still get up at 6:30 most days. Take trips (we went to Ireland). Watch you health (blew out my knee 2x... no fun). Work on what I want when I want...

Aha! That explains the two badly chewed starter mount bolts in the starter box! Still need to make bolts but now I have a pattern. Thanks!

B steering arm to spindle lock bolt angle

Working on my Allis B, 1942 I think, although clearly parts from several tractors - 1939 trans, 42 block casting, etc. Somewhere in the distant past the bolts that lock the steering arms to the spindles wandered off. I made some temporary ones a few years back, using some handy hardware bolts...

Woods L59 mower value and marketplace

All working, with brackets, ask $400 or so. ZTR's have really depressed the market for old time belly mowers.

    The purge follow up

Sold the Oliver books and manuals today. Pulled the old finish mowers, brush hog, 5th wheel and mobile home hitches and some other stuff out of the weeds. Got an Allis cultivator in there that my 'bota won't budge. I may need to do some digging and jacking up. But probably need to cut down...

So 4 pieces of equipment sold, 2 ton truck sold, Case 430 up for sale, 1200# of steel hauled with another truckload of heavy stuff yet to go. Today I put all my Oliver manuals and magazines up for sale. Since I don't own any Olivers now, time for someone else to enjoy them.

What projects are you guys doing this winter? Tractors, trucks etc?

Right now making new lock bolts for the Allis B front spindles. Next is a new front pivot. already have the axle bored for a bushing. Next, find all the parts for it, make a new alternator bracket, rewire, and hopefully sell it in the spring. Make a hydraulic tank for the belt driven pump on...
