    Does anyone know if there was a connection between IH and Alemite grease guns. My dad had several Alemite (not sure of spelling) grease guns from the 40's and early 50's that came with IH machines.     660 starter

    Still working on my 660 starter. From which end of the starter do we view the rotation. Shop says the 660 calls for a CCW starter and that is the direction that it turns viewed from the field end and that one turns the engine the wrong way. What has to be changed, the armature for sure...

    For 2 days I have been trying to get 2/4 points to fire. Have bought new coils, poi ts, and condensor ...2 sets. I have switched items from side to side with the same result. The engine will run on 1 and 3. Sometimes it will speed up like its trying to fire on 2/4. Do I have to buy a rebuilt...

    Here we go, she turns backwards. Now should I change the polarity of the tractor and re do the regulator to make it a positive ground, or just call it a day and return to the starter shop...

    Darald and 660

    I have been away from it for a few days, but the next thing to check is the starter rotation, if I can I will check it tomorrow, and let you know. I am heading back to the starter repair place on Monday anyhow.

    Bought it last year, it started and ran good. This spring it broke the starter shaft, new starter, turns good etc. The glow plugs seem to work, when pulling if the plugs have been lit, it starts immediately, running clean, it will even start if the glow plugs haven't been lit, but burps and...

    660 won't start

    New battery, cables and starter, turns over good, but will not pump fuel, no smoke. Pull it 15 feet and its running, it immediately starts smoking when being pulled. Got me not thinking straight. Thanks for any suggestions...Darald
