Harbor freight or tractor supply wire welder

Personally I would avoid the cheap welders. A friend bought one and it works OKish but not great. I have a Lincoln 100 that runs on 120vts. Have had it about 20 years and have had zero issues. Very handy to have around. Mostly use it on 3/16 thick and less. Any thicker than that I use stick. I...

    1923 telephone ringer

There was a working crank style phone on the dining room wall of the farmhouse we moved into in 1960. For some reason that antique phone system was still in use out in the country. Modern dial phone system, new poles and wires soon replaced it. Dad got a couple more of the old style crank phones...

    Saturday Rust

Looks quite like a New Idea rake my dad had way back when. I remember him pulling it behind an 8N.

    ID Dodge truck engine

Its definitely a big block engine of the B- RB family. What year is the truck? Could be anything from 361 ci. to 440 ci. Depending on what year the truck is. Its been a few years here, Im trying to remember. I am pretty sure the block is stamped with the numbers that denote the cubic inches in...

need non tractor help with a Dodge pikcup

I am certain that a slant 6 auto trans and a 318, or small block auto trans are not interchangeable. The mounting patterns are different where they bolt to thier respective engines. This I know from many years of wrenching on the older mopars of the 60s-70s-80s vintage. If you lived close to me...

    69 Plymouth

Very nice! I had a 68 Road Runner with a 383/4 speed way back many years ago. Wish I still had it!!

    Harbor fright gas engines

I recently put one on a wood splitter and it works just fine. Starts on first or second pull of the cord almost always. Sips fuel compared to the B&S it replaced. No complaints at all.

    Red/purple motor oil

Royal Purple. Supposed to be great oil. Lots of racers use/used in in their high performance engines.

    mobile home tires

You can gently buff off the lettering that says for mobile home use with a flap disc on a grinder. I've seen it done. But- they still aren't a very good tire IMHO

    mobile home tires

Mobile home tires are typically 4 ply at best. They are intended to move a mobile home or two and then are usually taken out of service. I tried them on my tandem axle car / small tractor hauler trailer. They were worn out in a very short period of time and not that many miles on them ether. I...

    2023.05.05 Tractor Pic

Spent many hours operating one similar to that back in the 70s. Ours was straight and clean but wearing it's working clothes.

    Rock Auto question

I put some of Detroit Axles lower end (cheap) parts on a clapped out truck I only ran for a couple of years and I put some of thier high end parts on our Jeep that we drove for about 6 more years. I had no problems with either one. Just sayin'

    Rock Auto question

Check out Detroit Axle. They have deals from bargain basement up to premium parts. Free shipping if I remember correctly. Just a thought. I've ordered lots of parts from them over the years. No complaints.

Feel like I have been taken advantage of.

This morning about 8:30 AM there is someone knocking on our door. It was our neighbor from 3 houses down the street. He asks my wife if he can borrow a circular saw. She tells him probably and sends me out to see him. He says I need to cut some boards, I'll bring it right back when done with it...

Feel like I have been taken advantage of.

A good friend of mine, now gone from the earth, several years ago wanted to borrow my tandem axle trailer to go get a Chevy truck he had bought. Of course I told him sure, no problem. He came and took the trailer and didn't come back with it till 3 days later. It seems that the truck was near...
