sawing wood by steam
A couple of pictures from a show we were at recently. My 1/3 scale steam engine I am driving a 1/2 size saw bench, with full size tree trunks. In the pictures, I am cutting 6" thick logs, which equates to an 18" thick tree. The steam engine coped fairly well, and kept us busy for the 4 days of...- Phil Scarborough

1710 loader valve...
he said his loader bucket wont raise but just a little. I aint had time to chk it out yet. -

neighbor called and wants to know if I can order the valve the loader bucket hoses go into and has the handle ... question, which one does he need, or part #. ? I don't know his problem but will stop in and have a look. -

the vent was plugged tight, I cleaned it good and neighbor hasn't worked it yet. may fixed it, will know soon . -

1710 ford leaking under shift boot ?
thanks, I will chk the vent and fluid level. is there a seal or something under the shifter ? I cant find anything through the parts department. -

1710 ford leaking under shift boot ? my neighbor called and said his japan ford (think its a 1710) is leakin hydraulic fluid from under the shifter boot. I assume the plate must be removed ? and does it have a seal under the plate and where can I buy one ? -

1948 8N, no 1st gear ??
buddy notified me and his 1948 8n has all gears but 1st. he says it just sounds like gears turning. has the other gears. ive not looked at it but where do I start to find the symptoms ?- dave404

1710 leaking fluid , coming out by shifter boot ??
diagram doesn"t show anything that would keep oil from coming up around gear stick, unless I missed something. would the boot itself serve as a seal ?? or is there a seal underneath the plate ? -

1710 hydraulic pump o-ring fit ??
thanks scott, so I need to chk the frame bolts to see if theyre tight. I noticed the movement up and down while raising the bucket. -

1710 leaking fluid , coming up by the right shifter boot ?? I figure the whole plate will need to be removed. So what part will I need to repair this ? I also need to replace both shifter boots. are both the same part # ? -

1710 hydraulic pump o-ring fit ??
this is my neighbors 1710 and it keeps blowing the o-ring at the coupling that goes to the valve underneath. we think the wrong one has been used. im not familiar with the 1710, so can someone tell me if it uses a single o-ring or a spacer and o-ring or ??? -
