I'm going to try a solenoid that's not grounded through the base. I've triple-checked that I've wired it correctly according to the shop manual. Also, I had replaced the starter switch by the shifter and have tested that, so I know it's good. I have two starter relays that are both grounded... -

I just replaced my gauge and drove it around until the engine was warm. Transmission oil temp didn't budge so I thought I had a faulty new gauge. After reading your post, perhaps it takes a lot to raise the trans oil temp? I don't have a loader on my 3020. Powershift trans.- DCFarmer

Is there a way to clean a JD H air filter element? I know how to change the oil in the oil bath. I'm talking about up in the air filter element above this. Reason I'm asking, I have some oil being drawn up through the emulsion tube and I'm thinking this is because not enough air is being drawn...- DCFarmer

1943 JD H cracked head trying to remove coolant drain plug
All. Appreciate these replies. I’ll try to remove the plug with the methods you suggested. About the head, I’m going to use a Dremel to “v” the three cracks and then apply an epoxy solution. Coolant drain plug in the bottom of the head broke off. Tried to drill and extract and cracked the casing around it. Need help here. My 861 starts as soon as I cut the power on, without pressing the starter button. If I don’t turn the power off, the starter stays engaged. Help - hay on the ground. -

Running coolant. I'll do an oil sample to see what it is - good suggestion. Will report results back here. Thanks for the info on the shifter boot. Yes, I have the breather in your picture. I clean it and soak it in engine oil twice a year or so.- DCFarmer

Tough to diagnose here: 1. Pulled plugs, both are perfectly clean (see pictures). 2. Cranked cylinders with plugs out, no fluids discharged. 3.
