    Ford 861 diesel wiring issue

I'm going to try a solenoid that's not grounded through the base. I've triple-checked that I've wired it correctly according to the shop manual. Also, I had replaced the starter switch by the shifter and have tested that, so I know it's good. I have two starter relays that are both grounded...

    Ford 861 diesel wiring issue

This is the solenoid I put on: https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Ford-801_Starter-Solenoid-12-Volt_D2AF11450AA.html Should I instead get the 6V with an isolated base (i.e., doesn't ground through the mount)?

    Ford 861 diesel wiring issue

Hello - Rebuilding my generator and replacing the wiring on my Ford 861 diesel. It was previously wired with a switch on the ground side, and then an added push-button to start (no key). My wiring kit is from this site. I left the switch on the ground side, but put a key switch back in and wired...

    72 4000 trans temp gauge

I just replaced my gauge and drove it around until the engine was warm. Transmission oil temp didn't budge so I thought I had a faulty new gauge. After reading your post, perhaps it takes a lot to raise the trans oil temp? I don't have a loader on my 3020. Powershift trans.

How to clean JD H air filter

Is there a way to clean a JD H air filter element? I know how to change the oil in the oil bath. I'm talking about up in the air filter element above this. Reason I'm asking, I have some oil being drawn up through the emulsion tube and I'm thinking this is because not enough air is being drawn...

1943 JD H cracked head trying to remove coolant drain plug

All. Appreciate these replies. I’ll try to remove the plug with the methods you suggested. About the head, I’m going to use a Dremel to “v” the three cracks and then apply an epoxy solution. Not hot there so I’m hoping it holds. If it fails, I will stitch. If unable, I found another head from...

1943 JD H cracked head trying to remove coolant drain plug

Coolant drain plug in the bottom of the head broke off. Tried to drill and extract and cracked the casing around it. Need help here. Should I ”v“ the cracks and apply JB Weld, apply a real weld, or replace the head altogether? Including picture for reference. Drain plug still stuck in there and...

Ford 861 Diesel starts without pressing ignition

Thanks for the replies so far. Here's the configuration: There's a master power switch, then a universal ignition switch, no key. Only thing that happened prior to the issue was the battery died (12v; not sure why it’s not charging). After charging the battery, same issue, but I tapped on the...

Ford 861 Diesel starts without pressing ignition

My 861 starts as soon as I cut the power on, without pressing the starter button. If I don’t turn the power off, the starter stays engaged. Help - hay on the ground.

John Deere H crank case ventilating system mixing water with oil

Running coolant. I'll do an oil sample to see what it is - good suggestion. Will report results back here. Thanks for the info on the shifter boot. Yes, I have the breather in your picture. I clean it and soak it in engine oil twice a year or so.

John Deere H crank case ventilating system mixing water with oil

Tough to diagnose here: 1. Pulled plugs, both are perfectly clean (see pictures). 2. Cranked cylinders with plugs out, no fluids discharged. 3. Compression test has good compression both cylinders. 4. No smoke at all when running. One thing though, when I run engine up to temp, I usually see...
