Ford 1710 engine block drain valve - threads?

This message is a reply to an archived post by chris in sk on February 21, 2018 at 19:18:05. The original subject was "Re: Ford 1710 engine block drain valve threads?". DID anyone answer what thread size it actually is? I did the same thing, they are made of some sort of pot metal, seemed like...

    8N loose crank pulley

Doing some misc. repairs on an 8N, including a loose crank pulley. The bolt (or whatever you want to call that slotted b*****d that holds the pulley on) was tight, but the pulley had a lot of play. When I got the pulley off, the keyway slot on the pulley was wallowed out a bit. Pulled the...

    F40 overheating

I've been putting a Ferguson F40 back together after it sat through the winter with a cooling system full of water. Replaced the radiator, water pump and thermostat and used K&W Nanotech head and block sealer which I'd read about on these boards. The block sealer seems to have worked fine (no...

Honestly it looked fine. As easily as it came loose, it's hard to imagine how it could have been in so much of a bind. But, (drumroll.....), IT WORKS!!!!!

Perhaps some quick theory of operation as well. It looks like the full range of motion (lever side of rocker against pump case) is achieved with the touch control lever only halfway up. Does that sound correct?

Well, using a small brass hammer, one no-too hard hit on a 3/8" deep well socket and it came out scary-easy. The pump is assembled now, so I guess it's back in the tractor and see how it works. Fingers crossed.

Hole looks clean, but I can't get it to move at all.

Sorry, I edited my last post when I saw the comment about the exhaust valve. It's kinda hard to concentrate with a toddler bouncing off the walls. The exhaust valve won't budge even when using vice grips.

The exhaust valve will not budge on mine. I can press it in some, but it's not coming out willingly.

After dropping the pump, here's the position of the rocker. I can move it out, as below, but I cannot move it in so that the lever end contacts the housing. If I remove the pin and remove the rocker from the other side, the inlet valve goes in without any problem. Something stuck on...

$5 for the spring, $6.15 for shipping, but it's on its way. Thanks for all the input. I'll check back in with results (or requests/questions). Thanks again.

I'll get the pump back out tonight and confirm. Would this be the part I''m after? http://just 8n's/8N697-Years1948-52-Spring-Hydraulic-Intake-Valve_p_2478.html'

Would a bad spring on the intake valve necessitate a rebuild of the hydraulic pump?

Yes, just moving the control lever up and down. Visually, it almost looks like it's on a cam up top (more up and down movement) than horizontal. In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned that, with the pump removed, I could only move the rocker out, towards the rear of the tractor, but that...
