    What's it worth?

Thanks for your input. That's why I posted my general vicinity. It's very rural where I am but no farmers growing crops. Mostly hay fields for sheep, cattle (beef & dairy) so I've got nothing to compare and only hunters that do food plots to try & sell it to.

    What's it worth?

Yes, AC just like I have; that's why I said it that way. I've seen the older crank style adjuster models more frequently in the past. Haven't seen hardly any with the fertilizer hoppers. I don't know where you are, but sounds like equipment goes dang cheap!

    What's it worth?

Seriously? I've recently found one similar without the fertilizer hoppers for $750. Yes, I know, big difference between asking & selling price but your value seems very low to me. Thanks for your opinion, tho'

    What's it worth?

I'm seriously thinking of selling my two row AC planter I bought several years ago at an auction. It's on a homemade toolbar, been a great planter for our deer food plots, but we're moving to perennials instead of annuals. I've used it for corn, peas, green beans and soybeans and have half a...

    Frankenstein 2-row seed depth?

Roger - thanks for the thought, but those are simply row markers up front.

    Frankenstein 2-row seed depth?

Paul, no, my unit does not have the cranks as in the link you sent. I looked up an AC 72 four row planter: it had the cranks like your link. So, adjusting the screw braces: how to you know when you have the correct depth? Trial and error?

    Frankenstein 2-row seed depth?

I bought a 2-row planter at an auction; posted pictures here trying to identify, and most answers agreed it looks "like AC Planter units... on a toolbar". I have no idea which planter units so haven't been able to find any kind of manual. Everything seems to be working, but my concern at this...

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

All this info and insight has been great, and I do really appreciate it! Looking more closely at this thing is making me wonder more about what mashup of parts it contains. Here's a shot inside one of the fertilizer hoppers; notice the thick ring of sealant at the bottom. Would this possibly...

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

Using drop chains to hold it at a constant height: doesn't that cause a problem if you have undulations in the plot? What plate did you modify for beans?

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

Here are a couple pics of the bottom of the seed hopper. Appears to be plastic plate plus an adapter/spacer(?). A quick search shows they are JD plates. Would it be a straight forward swap to use a different hopper that can hold two different type of seeds -- or would some modification be...

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

Thanks Ben. I'm hoping it's set as it is. There was still a few kernels of corn in each hopper, so I'm guessing that's what the previous owner used it for. Granted, we are going to be tying the Three Sister's method: corn, climbing beans and squash. Not real sure how we'll accomplish this yet...

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

Um, yeah... where abouts should I look for such a plate? I have looked it over pretty well and have seen nothing. I plan on getting the thing up off the ground and do a thorough cleaning; it has a layer of greasy grime over most of the frame. I've felt around, inside & out of the frame...

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

Oh, I agree! It appears to be a good, solid planter. I just need to learn how to use it, and now possibly even more important, how to find parts for it!

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

So you think it's fabricated? Huh.... From the looks of all the other equipment that was at the auction, I wouldn't have thought that. Then again, that doesn't mean the owner didn't buy it that way or have someone make it for him. Suggestions on how to learn to properly use this? I'm new to...

    AC 2-row planter identification needed

Just bought this planter at an auction and could really use help on identifying the model so I can find a manual. Also need to find parts: the guy that hauled it home for me didn't think to remove the fertilizer bin lids and they got lost somewhere along the way  Any help is appreciated!
