What's it worth?

I'm seriously thinking of selling my two row AC planter I bought several years ago at an auction. It's on a homemade toolbar, been a great planter for our deer food plots, but we're moving to perennials instead of annuals. I've used it for corn, peas, green beans and soybeans and have half a dozen Lustran plates (all for round seeds). I've been searching for something similar to get an idea what to ask for it but am not finding anything comparable. FWIW, I'm in eastern Ohio.

I would be asking 200-300 dollars. Other brands such as John Deere and Ford bring more but they have the name recognition. Even if you do not plant anything this spring it would help to run it through some ground to get the disks shined up to instill confidence in it. You know that it works but others might not feel so confident about it.

Seriously? I've recently found one similar without the fertilizer hoppers for $750. Yes, I know, big difference between asking & selling price but your value seems very low to me. Thanks for your opinion, tho'

Yea I'll buy a semi loads of them for that price if you're within 6/700 miles
They bring closer to a grand here

Allis Chalmers just like you have? The big names will bring much more money but they have to be in good condition. I've seen Ford 309 planters that were poor looking but would plant bring 300 dollars. If you can sell your AC for 750 dollars then more power to you. I just do not see it happening around me.

And those tend to be John Deere's or Ford's or IH's. I've planted with AC corn planters but I cannot say that they are a hot item in 2026.

It doesn't matter what brand they are here
If it has sweet corn plates it brings top dollar
Especially 2 row
4 row will bring the 2/300 range if its rough looking an off brand

How many times a day does some food plot guy post on here after buying junk that;s only half there? Wave something like that under their noses for $1500, and it actually works, your phone will still be ringing off the hook by their friends asking if you have any more.

A very good JD 246 will bring 5-600 dollars at an auction here. One that needs work or is a parts unit around 200. A 4 row anything would have to be quite bad to only get 2-300 dollars.

At the top end a JD 2 row with 71 units with every plate imaginable plus kept inside every night brings 1,750 dollars around here. Fertilizer attachment with it. There was such a planter sold just within the last 3 years in the Rochester, NY area.

Do you really think these food plot guys know the difference?

Yes, AC just like I have; that's why I said it that way. I've seen the older crank style adjuster models more frequently in the past. Haven't seen hardly any with the fertilizer hoppers. I don't know where you are, but sounds like equipment goes dang cheap!

Location Location Location i reckon
Kina wild
Thanks for your input. That's why I posted my general vicinity. It's very rural where I am but no farmers growing crops. Mostly hay fields for sheep, cattle (beef & dairy) so I've got nothing to compare and only hunters that do food plots to try & sell it to.

Looks like a very nice planter for the food plot hunter. I made something similiar from Cole Planter Jr's and it doesn't have seed plates. It just drops the seed. It works but not as nice as that. I've seen similiar JD or IH planters listed for over $1000 here in west MI.

No, most equipment brings big money but the supply for 2 row planters is ample when compared to the demand. Also, many bought the Pequa/ John Deere 2 row planters and for many years they sold for under 1,000 dollars.
