Cranking speed is EVERYTHING with a diesel, get it cranking good with white smoke--(fuel) before you give it either. A lot of machines have electric either injection on them from the factory, so it can't be that bad.- ddwi318

70 gas starts hard. load screw?
Just rebuilt a 70 carb for my brother, the 2 idle screws initial setting is 1 1/2 turns open, load needle(center of bowl) 1 turn. Don't understand the flooding, unless the float level isn't right, or needle valve not seating. Float setting is 3/8" from top of bowl, to bottom of float, carb...- ddwi318

OT - Papec
We used one of these into the sixties, I'm thinking this is a newer one, it has only 2 wheels, and has metal sides on the apron, most of them I've seen had 4 wheels and I believe wooden sides. Papec was in Shortsville NY and Shelbyville Tn from memory, they were in business into the 70s at...- ddwi318

I now see you said the hydraulics quit working. IF you have to change the input shaft to the reverser, you have to get the clutch cross shaft out of the way, but it won't pull out without removing the loader frame. YOu can cut it in half between the 2 bolt holes where the throw out bearing fork...- ddwi318

Try shifting the transmission gears with the clutch up, if there's no grinding.. either the center has been torn out of the clutch, or the input splines to transmission have sheared; the hydraulic functions may work very briefly, then stop..because the return oil is being routed back to the...- ddwi318
