    My 2940 will sometimes knock for 2 seconds after a cold start-up. Sounds like a compression knock with extra exhaust. Also, my crankcase oil level increases even after installing a new transfer pump. The coolant is never low and the engine does not overheat. It has 9500 hours and runs great...

    JD #21 hay crusher

    That's enough power if the crimper doesn't begin to plug and kill the engine. If you have live power and stop forward movement before totally plugging you can "wear" the grass out of the rollers.

    I have a Lely (shaft drive) and a Gehl (gear drive). The gear drive is easier to chain oil on and the Lely are VERY expensive to repair. I would buy which ever dealer in your area you prefer to patronize.

    I have a 50 year old combine that needs cylinder bars, but they are obsolete from the manufacturer. They are 1 3/4" X 23 7/8". Does anyone out there know of any brand of bar that I can fabricate from? Thank you very much in advance!!

    If you are going to chisel corn or bean stalks a regular chisel is pertty much worthless.

    JD 50 tractor coming out of 3rd gear

    JD had a recall on the 50 in order to install locks on the shift rails. My father bought a first run 50 that would jump out of 3rd and 1st under load. The rail locks solved the problem. (Check the parts book)
