    Thanks. I googled the part number and found a solenoid at All States Ag Parts, but in the picture shown it doesn't appear to have any provision for a load needle. Next step I think is to contact McDonald and see if they can help me sort it out.

    The seal kit that you reference - is that something I can find in the JD parts catalog, or is it aftermarket? And is this a job that a reasonably skilled home mechanic can take on, or does it require the expertise of a real pump mechanic?

    All new parts (bushings, shaft, seals) from JD. The bushings with o-rings are what JD specified, so that's what I got.

    Thought this through a little more and the loctite thing may be overkill given that the outer seal should block whatever may weep past that and the o-ring on the shaft. And I don't have any loctite handy.
