    8n starting problems

    I just put new carb on my 8n. It starts beautiful but only runs for short period of time then shuts down. After a while I tried to pull choke on when it was shutting down and it took right off again running well then it would shut down, pull choke and it kept running well.Help!!!!!

    Thank you very much, I do have that picture on p. 86. I then take from this that the reason I cannot move the lever on the left side of my 9n is that the shift rail is stuck or something broken in there.

    Thank you for response. I looked in my Shop Manual FO-4 on my page 30 is Fig. FO35&36 discussing camshafts. FO-75 is on page 51 discussing ammeter installation. I must have a different edition, I can find no pictures or discussions on my problem.

    The engagement lever is free. When you talk about a sleeve, are you referring to the sleeve around drive shaft? I can move it about a half inch by hand.     The lever itself is not frozen but whatever it engages inside will not move, I take it that is what you suggest is frozen or rusted. I do have an 8n and I did have clutch engaged.
