    1020 John Deere Serial Number

Jim.ME you were correct. I pulled the rivet out and there was another digit under the rivet head. Based on some of the images others have posted it definitely looks like this is not the original tag. Thanks to everyone for the replies and help!!

Good catch. When I zoomed in on the picture I noticed what you were talking about. I will try to back the rivet out.

    1020 John Deere Serial Number

So the question is still there. If the starting serial number was 14501 in 1965 which is the first year based on my understanding how can this number be lower than that? The tractor was bought used so I cannot speak on if the tag is original or not.

    1020 John Deere Serial Number

That is exactly why I am confused and asking the question. I looked at the ID plate multiple times just to make sure I didn't write it down incorrectly or missed a character but I didn't. I can try taking a picture later today maybe my untrained eye is missing something. On a different topic...

Model 47 Loader Lift Cylinder Rebuild

Hello, I am trying to rebuild the lift cylinder on a Model 47 loader. I got the rod/piston removed but am a little confused on how to remove the pistion from the rod. The nut is recessed into the piston. I could grab a pipe wrench but I am guessing that is not the recommended way to go about...

    1020 Throw Out Bearing Replacement

It is what I believe is referred to as the two stage clutch. When you let the clutch out 1/2 way the PTO will engage but the tractor doesn't move.

    1020 Throw Out Bearing Replacement

Hello, I have a 1020 with a Model 47 loader and sometimes when I let the clutch out I hear a knocking sound. To me it sounds like it is coming from under the gear shift levers. I am assuming it is the throw out bearing going bad. I tried to grease the bearing but have not been able to get...

    1020 TSX 904 Carburetor Question

Thanks for the link. I looked at the site and it appears one jet, item 48, goes into the bowl and one jet, item 24, goes into the upper portion. This is not the way the carburetor I have is set up. Both jets were in the upper portion and none in the bowl.
