Replacing seal etc to stop oil leak from transmission

Decided to replace worn parts to stop oil leak. Other than gaskets, and oil seal, should I replace the shaft and bushing? If so, would someone kindly list part #'s for me. Went to JD parts catalog, but not sure what all I need. Thanks in advance.-----Bert

    primer is on

Lisa: Primer looks good!!! For masking tires I use undiluted Dawn Ultra dish washing soap. Simply brush it on, paint, and wash tires to remove soap and overspray. Leaves the tires looking much better. If the overspray is heavy, simply scarify it with a wire brush, then rinse with water...

OT_PTO shaft for Dearborn 14-16 mower

Rebuilding a Dearborn 14-16 mower for a backup and need the inside shaft and universal joint--the section that hooks to the power take off on the tractor (8N). Does anyone out there have such a critter they would be willing to sell?? The out side shaft accepts a 3/4 inch square shaft. Thank...

    For buck ey al

Bob: This is the first time I have used the PTO since removing the old Farmhand loader in '97. The Bearcat plugged up and the 60 just kept chugging along so I think the clutch was damaged before I could get to the tractor to shut things down.

Thank you. I will print this out and refer to it as I dismantle the PTO and clutch--also on reassembly.

    For buck ey al

Sure appreciate you taking the time to try to educate a dummy!!! Thanks. When things slow down at my shop, I will get the 60 back in and disassemble the pto and clutch, then maybe I will understand how it works and possibly replace any worn parts. Again, thanks to all who contributed.

Additonal observation and questions about JD 60 PTO clutch

Is it possible that some "mechanic" placed that thin (large diameter) disc between the cam and brake plate as a spacer so adjustment to 0.090 could be achieved. This tractor came for over 50 miles back in the hills and the PO would have had to travel about 150 miles for parts.

    inner rim surface

Carl: I use a rotary wire brush on the inner surfaces and then paint heavily with a rust resistant paint. Also, one could cut up an auto inner tube and place in in the rim.

Additonal observation and questions about JD 60 PTO clutch

Thanks to the three members who responded. After a careful exam, I have come to the conclusion that this clutch has been upgraded with newer parts. This 60 (a late 1952 #3007xxx) does not have the tang mentioned in the books. Instead, there is a screw in one of 4 slots around a casting that...

Questions about the John Deere 60 live PTO

Need some advise and opinions. Not familiar with the engine driven PTO of a 60. While grinding alfalfa hay with a Bearcat grinder the blower quit working and the grinder plugged up, and consequently the PTO stopped turning. Question--Is the PTO clutch on these tractors (early model 60)...

Sediment bowl or fuel line leak...

I would Teflon tape the gas line connection to the sediment bowl and also tighten the compression nut at the shut off end.
