    Tuesday Truck Pic

I would love to find an old truck like that. I wonder what happened to them all? You hardly ever see one. Would be very cool to take to tractor shows. It probably doesn't go much faster than an old farm tractor. Think about the whopping 20 horsepower engine it has. A real hot rod. Can anyone...

2001 GMC 2500 Not Going Into Reverse

I found a You tube video saying the same thing about building up the length of the pin with a welder. I have replaced the solenoid plate in the 4l60e so I have an idea how to do this. I will try the first gear hold back test. Thanks.

    Harbour Freight cut off disks

I have had good luck with the HF metal cutting wheels. Make sure you got metal ones. They also make concrete ones. Easy to mix up.

2001 GMC 2500 Not Going Into Reverse

No codes. It just won?t go in reverse. Go to drive and it moves forward against the brakes. Back to reverse and it moves backwards. If I drive it regularly it doesn?t happen. Only after it sits a few weeks. It has happened maybe five times in the past year. It is for sure a 4L80E.

2001 GMC 2500 Not Going Into Reverse

My 2001 GMC 2500 with the 4L80E transmission won't go into reverse after it sits for a few weeks. This doesn't happen all of the time. If I put it in drive and then back into reverse it works fine. It only seems to do it after it has sat for a few weeks. Any ideas what to look for?

    Harbor Freight C Clamps needed

I think that brake is better than most people give it credit. The C clamp method is actually very versatile. You can do things like your closed box that a normal brake can't do as well. As you mentioned you can cut the hold down to different lengths and make it a box brake. You also have to...

    Husqvarna Mowers Good or Bad?

I have a 52XLS. This is a dealer unit, higher quality mower than the big box store models. It has the 24hp Kawasaki engine, heavy fabricated deck and the Hydrogear transaxle which has an external oil filter. I have had it about 7 years and have 250 hours on it. So far decent mower. Two problems...

    Just another death machine

Everyone should please read the post that is a few above this one about a tragic tractor accident. Being careful is great until the unplanned happens. The thing you just did not think about goes wrong. The thing that you wouldn't think could happen in a million years happens. It takes being...

Guess I have gain some weight

Welding spring steel isn't a good idea. It is very likely to break again at the weld point. The heat of welding changes the properties of the hardened spring steel. I would get different spring.

    Welder advice

I am going to go against the flow here. Are you a professional welder? Do you make a living with it? Are you welding 1/2 inch plate all of the time? If you are a home shop welder I don't know why you want to spend $3k on a welder. For a home shop welder you can spend 1/3 of that and have what...

    Harbor Freight Pole Saw

I bought this Harbor Freight electric pole saw. With a 20% off coupon it was under $70 with tax. This thing works great. Really pleased with it. I bought it to help take down an ash tree that was close to the house. The 120volt extension cord is a pain but for limited use it is a great tool...

    Poor ground wasps

I did the same trick to get rid of bees under the siding of my house. I used a section of PVC pipe to create a really long extension. Propped it up against the house with the end right at the point the bees flew in and out. Stuck the shop vac in the other end. Turned it on and sat back for an...

What would you do? Sheet metal

If you have the metal brake and the shrinker stretcher it won't be long and the bead roller will show up. Soon after the English wheel will be needed. Ask me how I know. I really enjoy metal shaping. I have used my tools a lot.

What would you do? Sheet metal

Unless you have need of a brake in the future just spend the $25 and have it done. If you like to work with sheet metal and have plans than buy the brake. I almost always see a used HF brake on Craiglist in my area.

    Parts people woes

Every business has to focus in on what they do and do that well. For auto parts stores that is parts for late model cars. Going to them for items outside that range is like going to a dairy farmer and asking for wheat. Sure he can raise it the same as the auto parts store can probably get the...
