Harbor Freight Pole Saw

I bought this Harbor Freight electric pole saw. With a 20% off coupon it was under $70 with tax. This thing works great. Really pleased with it. I bought it to help take down an ash tree that was close to the house. The 120volt extension cord is a pain but for limited use it is a great tool.

Hi, Duane:
That looks like the HF pole saw I bought for a particular project here at home. Overgrown privet hedge bushes needed topping, too tall to reach from the ground. Pole saw reached the tops perfectly. The project was about 350 feet from electricity, but multiple extension cords made the job easy. Saw was well worth the price, to me.

I just bought one of those saws the other day. Loaded the generator on the yamaha and took off trimming trees (mostly oaks). I was impressed i just wish it was a little longer to reach some of the droopier branches. I just stood on the trailer and picked up the two feet i needed. Just have to remember where the edges of the trailer are when looking up for branches to cut.

I bought an electric pole saw from NT about 5 years ago and a portable generator from HF a year or so later. The plan was to load the generator in the carryall box on the back of my 52 8N and trim trees around fields far from available AC power.

To this day I have never used either as I found it too much trouble after I bought my Stihl 4 cycle pole saw about two years ago. Great saw, and much quicker as no need to move tractor with generator, cords, etc.

I have one like that & it works well powered by the 12V to 120V inverter mounted on my tractor. It's especially useful for reaching under or through thorn bushes to cut without getting too close.

ut the electric is soooo much lighter weight to handle. Keep it and generator on ATV. Stihl sits in shed.

I rented a Stihl gas powered pole saw about a month ago, it extended out to 16 feet, was pretty hard to manage at that length but I could reach most anything I needed to cut. The HF only going out to 10 feet is TOO SHORT for what I need/want to trim.

You do not need a generator. Those saws only draw around 5 to 8 amps when running. A good inverter wired to clamp to a battery post can power one with no problems. Once you are done, everything can be tossed onto a shelf and forgotten.

I have an 800 watt inverter wired with battery clamps that power an 18" hedge clipper with no problems. Nice to trim hedges around a house without having to drag long extension cords or the hassle of hauling around a generator.
