I took the distributor/coil off and the slot where the distributor goes into is not going around. I'm guessing the camshaft gear bad. I have read other posts where they made press on and bolt on gears. Before I tackle this project just want to make sure both types of gears are available. Is...- dwb-ne

Well, after further investigation, the camshaft gear that turns the distributor is not turning. Has anyone had this problem and how hard is it to fix?- dwb-ne

I checked the number one cylinder and it lines up with number one plug wire. What are the symptoms if the inline resister is bad. How would I check that?- dwb-ne

Cutting alfalfa yesterday and out of the blue it just died. It was making a weird rattling noise from around the governor area just before it died. I have another running 2N so I removed the distributor and coil and put it on and no go. It is getting spark so I swapped carbs and still nothing...- dwb-ne

Looking at re-building the carb. I noticed that the rebuild kits on this site have a different Main Adjusting Needle than what I currently have. The kit has a short adjusting needle and the one I have is a long adjusting needle. Does this make a difference? I have attached pics. -

Does not idle well at normal timing have to advance timing to get it to idle good. At normal timing (5 degress BTDC) or advanced past the 5 degrees either way it has no power under load. I have to baby the clutch to get it to move when pulling a full load of manure. Now I'm wondering if it's... -

I used this tractor as my baler tractor all summer with no problems. Went to start it last week (been sitting inside for maybe 3 weeks) and it barely started and when it did start it was real sluggish. It would speed up to the normal rpm briefly (maybe 1 second) then go back to running sluggish... -

Engaging PTO on a JD 5520
I'm hooking up a bush hog for the first time on this tractor and when I engage the pto at engine idle it fully engages all at once and about rips off the pto shaft. Is there a way to slowly engage the pto to let the blades slowly spin up? I looked at the manual and it doesn't show anything about...- dwb-ne
