    Re-splining steering shaft

    Is there a way to re-spline the steering shaft. Have a new steering wheel and steering shaft splines are worn down allowing steering wheel to spin.

    I have the same setup as your picture. I was just wondering about the upper steering tube if I should lube it.I put cornhead grease in the lower unit using that zerk. Thanks for the picture. It validates what I did. Was guessing when I did it.

    Has anyone drilled into the steering shaft tube on an early 8n to install a grease zerk. Just installed all new shaft bearings and want to keep them lubed correctly. I have a grease zerk on the steering box that i use to grease there. Thanks

    What holds the lower bearing on to an early 8n steering shaft? I took the shaft out of the steering gear box, found nothing holding the bearing on to the shaft. There is a race or something like it in the bottom where the shaft end rests. On the learning curve on all this. Thanks.

    Was going to install new bearing on lower steering shaft and noticed something has broken off in the hole for the retainer. Guessing it was the old part that held bearing retainer on. Any way to get that out such as drilling it. Thanks
