Ford 641 won't stay running.
Thanks, did compression nothing steller, but still do-able (120 on all four, dry/throttle wide open). Pulled my notes from when i first got the tractor, no change in compression. Fuel flow is good, new plugs, copper core wire, great spark (blue at 1/4 inch). Static time is on mark, zero on...- EJOMEA

Ford 641 won't stay running.

The leak is definitely on the plate. The plate is about 8x6, the rivet head is offset, forward and to the left. I'll try and send a picture tonight. -

So my 641 developed a hydraulic leak on a plate under the tractor. The plate sits almost directly under the pitch control lever. My question is, if I take this plate off to put on a new gasket, will any fall out of the tractor that is should be aware of? Looked in the manual, didn't see... -

So, update. Basically had to retime the distributor, don't know if that's the correct term. Had an old timer give me directions over the phone. Dialed in TDC on compression, removed plug wires, dist cap, rotor and dust cap. Points were perfect fully closed. Loosened distributer and... -

Yup, did that, TDC on compression stroke, couple of times. There is spark and compression. Timing is on spot. Planning on pulling carb today. But even giving a shot of ether through the carb should have made it at least pop, right? If my timing gear skipped a tooth or two (or more), how do... -

Need some thoughts. While mowing with my 641 the other day, I hit a hidden rut and bounced the front end hard, thought my loader was going to come off. Tractor shut down on the spot, just like the key was shut off. Figured it was something electrical. I have the negative side of the coil...
