    High temp paint.

3L, old post I know, but I'm doing the same with my 37 F20. Did you use the VHT engine paint (500F) or the flameproof (1500F)? Flat black, or gloss? How did it hold up? Thanks, Evan

    1937 F-20 Belt Pulley Removal

Follow up. Got around to removing the pulley. As DeltaSteve suspected, by unbolting the four studs mounting the pulley tube to the transmission housing there was just enough room to slip the tube off the studs and drop the assembly. Maybe 1/8" between the pulley outer edge and the drop box...

    F20 Fan mount

Hey Dennis, yes that, or a shim would position the unworn sections of the shaft to the load bearing locations. But, since I got it out, which was my initial worry, I went ahead and repaired it. Ended up building it up with weld bead and turning it back down to a little oversize. The bracket...

    F20 Fan mount

OK, I finally got around to it. 24" pipe wrench did the job. No beer, but had a big cup of joe. Now I'll machine up a new one this morning. -E.

    1937 F-20 Belt Pulley Removal

Jim, I'm going to try to take it off a couple of different ways that were suggested. If no luck, I decided last night that the back end is going to come apart anyway for refurb. Evan

    1937 F-20 Belt Pulley Removal

DeltaSteve, I'll experiment a bit with that, but decided to do more disassembly anyway. Evan

    1937 F-20 Belt Pulley Removal

Thanks, Oldiron. I decided to take the rear end down further anyway. The "oil" inside looks like tar.

    1937 F-20 Belt Pulley Removal

Yeah, 3L, it seems crazy that it isn't more easily removable. Not a bad idea to remove the studs, but even then there doesn't appear to be enough room to decouple the outer pulley shaft from the inner shaft without running into the housing. At least that's the way it looks in my manual...

    1937 F-20 Belt Pulley Removal

Well, I thought I'd just show photos highlighting the problem, but here's a pix of the tractor as it is now. I've noticed the standard width F20's have a lot more room to move that pulley out. And, yeah, I know the rears are on backwards.

    1937 F-20 Belt Pulley Removal

Hey all, I'm working on the rear end of my 1937 F-20, and want to pull the belt pulley. My F-20 is a narrow tread, and there is only about 1-1/4" clearance from the pulley outer edge to the bull gear housing. That doesn't look like enough room to slide the pulley off it's shaft? Is there a...

    F20 Fan mount

Rustred, yeah, I'm a bit ashamed for sounding like a whoos, but I'm scared I'm going to bust something. I did put my 180lb onto a pipe wrench and it did not budge. That's when I started getting nervous. Peeking into the jackets with a mirror and judging from the outside, there just isn't a...

    F20 Fan mount

Ok, thanks. One thing I'm starting to figure out is with this old tractor you have to pick and choose your battles. Leaving well enough alone rather than trying to make a part like new may prevent ruining an unobtainable or impossible/very costly to repair part. Totally different approach...

    F20 Fan mount

3L, I'd feel better about improving it just because it's a pretty sloppy fit, and I can do the fix. Did you weld yours up in place, or were you able to remove the shaft? Thanks, Evan

    F20 Fan mount

The fan bracket just pivots on this shaft (doesn't spin), but is fairly wobbly from the wear. Being that it's a flat belt, I'm worried that it is not going to track well, and may just flyoff the pulleys. This was not a running tractor when I got it, so just don't know.

    F20 Fan mount

Oldiron that's a great approach. I was planning to just turn a new one on my lathe, but am too worried about screwing up my block getting it out. I can weld it up (or even bronze weld) and dress it down as you described, and although not perfect it'll be a lot better than it is now. Like you...
