Yay! That was fast! Got 'em in the next day. And the shop made it right, it didn't cost me anything :D Onward with the re-assembly!!! -

Hey Scott, thanks for the sugestion. The rods measure / check out fine, after pulling the piston and setting it beside one of the old ones I pulled from the engine, there is definately a difference in pin position. Sadly, the machine shop ordered the wrong pistons for my engine. -

Hi Ultradog, It is too bad I don't have a 201 crank laying around, although the crank I've got now has already been turned down .010, and I have the bearings to match. It will be interesting to see what the machine shop has to say on Monday. With pistons costing $130 each, I can't afford... -

Yeah, I went to my shop the other day and was going to tell him just to sleeve it, but he had already machined it to .020, and managed to track down 3 pistons and ring sets for around $500.00. If you figure in the price of the sleeves, and the additional amount the shop charges to install them... -

Flail mowers

After doing a bit more searching, it would appear I can get standard, or .040 for about the same price. .020 is about double the price, .030 are next to impossible to find. Sleeves are an option, cheaper, and I could possibially get away with using my pistons with new rings, HOWEVER the... -

Thanks Ultradog, I've kinda wondered the same thing about interchanging the pistons. Anybody have an idea why these pistons are relitively hard to get hold of? When I rebuilt my NAA last year I had no problems at all finding everything I needed. The 192 oversized pistons being hard to find... -

Looks like I may become a semi-regular here. :) My machine shop is going to take my cylinders over .020, and I've started trying to track down the pistons. They seem to be kinda scarce? Anybody got a source for them? Engine is a 1966 4000, 3cyl, gas. thx!!
