    If I didn't mention it earlier, I can turn the spline on the input shaft and the pto shaft turns and vice-versa. Had no real problem getting the pto shaft back into the tractor.     Tractor is split and have found that one of the helical teeth on the trans input shaft is only about half a tooth. Will be straining the fluid to see if the missing piece flushed out when drained fluid. Appears to be about the same input shaft assy as the one I replaced in a Ford 2000 tractor...

    That sounds more like transmission noise than clutch. Noise in neutral with your foot off the clutch, right? Yes. Possibly the input shaft bearing or the counter shaft bearings. This is what I'm thinking- or bearing spinning on the hub?? Have you checked the oil level? Yes.
