    Painting a tractor

On the 8N I used a siphon cup gun on 75' of 3/8" hose shooting tinted oil based rust paint with hardener. You need dry air like others have said, and enough capacity to be able to shoot without stopping and waiting for the compressor to catch up. I don't look for perfection- nice and clean and...

Ever wish a machine would just die?

I have a snowblower like that. It is a terrible machine to operate as well. I bet it just may be easier to shovel the gravel driveway than to wrestle this machine. I'm exhausted after a couple of hours. I leave it out where people can see it, hoping it will get stolen. Haha.

    What is a restored tractor?

I like them to be fully working, no leaks(or as little as possible), start easily and work as required. Paint is nice but not needed. I fixed up the tractor in my avatar. Mechanically and electrically that is. It wasn't pretty and I didn't care. A close friend of mine and his father were...

    My 1952 8N Story

I like the battery disconnect. I use them on all my old stuff. Helping to prevent dead batteries and fires are a great reason to use them.

    My 1952 8N Story

"A" is no longer needed, install "B" in it's place. "C" bolts over the PTO and "D" is the drawbar which you have the three holes to choose from depending on the application. Careful on bolt lengths making sure they don't bottom out before tightening up and damage the rear end casting.

I have a garage door opener that is 35 years old

Could be the lenses are getting cloudy or the sensor is getting weak.. They might work better or worse when the temp/ humidity is higher or lower. I had an issue on an older unit, I was able to just jump out the terminals and bypass the sensors completely for testing.

Need some old type fuses information

If you have an electrical wholesaler around, drop by they might be able to help. At least to put something in there to prevent more damage.

    wrong color tractors

It uses the 3 point with cables. The whole thing is my take of the dearborn design (with some improvements, at least in my mind, haha.) The cables attach to the 3 point arms, run under the drawbar mount with a bar and pulleys then up to the front with two more pulleys on the plow frame and then...

    My 1952 8N Story

That's what happened to me as well. I couldn't get it to seal very good at all. Broke the clamp. I found the muffler pipe wasn't thick enough for the clamp to draw it tight to the manifold. Tightening more broke the clamp. My solution, besides replacing the clamp, was to make up a couple...

    8N Side-mount Distributor Oiler

Jmor is correct, the one you have wasn't there from factory. But, the little ball is spring loaded to try and keep dirt out. If you put the tip of an oiler on it and press the ball when oiling it will get some oil in there. Looks like a solution to a problem with limited options at the time...

    wrong color tractors

Almost any color is nice. As long as it doesn't represent another make. Rust is nice too. I painted the 8n in what I think looks nice. Not correct but kind of goes with the age. I didn't mind the rusty look. A buddy of mine who grew up working in his dad's body shop insisted we paint it...

    scrap or restore?

From the pictures it looks to be in better shape than what's sold as a running antique tractor around here. If you want a fairly easy project, depending whether the engine and trans are able to run that is, it may be somethingyou would have fun doing. No or almost no money is made doing this...

Anybody have a new GM P/U or Surburban?

We have a '24 GMC 2500hd. 6.6L gas, 10 speed Allison. It does shift a lot. Surprisingly, no problems so far at 25000 kms. Besides the tailgate recall. I have no doubt it does end up having problems, though. The big 3 have made vehicles with problems a normal thing. The consumer has...
