    Farmall H starting problems

Thanks guys you were right. There was gunk blocking the slots in the sediment bowl input. I cleaned that out and was back in business. I have a feeling this was a problem with many of the issues I had starting the tractor. Thanks so much for your input!

    Farmall H starting problems

I wasn't sure whether to continue here or start a new thread, but here we go. After all the work I've done on this tractor, I have another problem. The Farmall H now starts right up after replacing the 4 gauge cable with a zero gauge. The problem now is it will idle just fine, but when I...

    PTO yoke

Hey everyone, success! I heeded some great advice and worked with a file to smooth up the PTO shaft. After some abundant elbow grease I was able to get the driveline on it successfully this morning. I was afraid I was going to have to replace the shaft. Thanks so much to all of you for your...

    PTO yoke

Yeah, thanks guys. The button was the first thing I spent a lot of time dealing with and analyzing. The yoke does not go far enough for the pin to pop back up when it hits the slot on the shaft. I have tried every spline, rotating around to try to find one position that would slide in with no...

    PTO yoke

    PTO yoke

I absolutely can't believe I'm still dealing with the issue of trying to get my bush hog going again. As I mentioned above in this thread I purchased a PTO driveline, and an adapter to make one end of the 1 3/8" 6 spline driveline compatible with the 1 3/8" 21 spline yoke of the bush hog. The...

    Old Brush hog identity

Hi Sam, I think you're correct. I reviewed a bunch of old Servis brand rotary mowers online and there were some that were very similar to mine. Fortunately, I found a local shop that will replace the bearing on the driveline configuration. Thanks for your input!

    Old Brush hog identity

I figured that would be the case...it's like finding a needle in a haystack identifying one of those old implements. Thanks for the input.

    Old Brush hog identity

Can anyone help me identify this rotary cutter (bush hog, brush hog)? It's obviously a pull type with a crank height adjustment. I need a replacement bearing and I have no idea where to look for one. I can send more pics if necessary. Thanks!

    PTO yoke

Thanks everyone for your replies. In answer to "used red" and "caterpillar guy" I understand that using an adapter is not ideal and utilizing an ORC would be preferable, but I apparently have no other options. Agri Supply does not have a complete drive shaft that will fit my situation...I...

    PTO yoke

I was using the mentioned bush hog with my previous tractor, an Allis Chalmers D17 as well as the Farmall H I now have and it performed fine.

    PTO yoke

Here's a final update providing even more evidence that I don't know much about PTO drivelines. To begin with, I took a tape measure to the PTO shaft on my 1948 Farmall H and the closest measurement from spline to spline was 1 1/4". The shaft on my very old brush hog (not a Bush Hog brand so...

    PTO yoke

An update...I was able to find the yoke on Ebay (1 1/8" 6 splines). By the way, Yesterday's Tractors has complete drivelines, but they do not have any yokes listed. Tractor Supply has them, but not in the size I needed. Thanks to everyone for their replies, I didn't realize I knew so little...

    PTO yoke

I lost the driveshaft, including both yokes, for my 1948 Farmall H that hooks up to a bushhog. I have a local place that can build me a new driveshaft, but they do not have the yoke that hooks onto the Farmall H PTO which only has six splines. Does anyone know where I can find a yoke for the...

    Farmall H starting problems

I just wanted to update everyone who provided comments for this thread. I bought a new "0" gauge cable to replace one of the cables that was 4 gauge. Amazing, I would have never thought the cable could make that much difference. After installing the cable the tractor started right up. Thanks...
